Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't get religion. And least of all religious nuts.

I mean, it's ok if you want to believe in Santa Clause, it really is, but when our laws should be based around what Santa may or may not think about it, and how people fight over Santa being real instead of the Easter bunny, and how religion is still even around at all any more. Was there a glitch somewhere, when we moved past worshiping the sun, or rivers, and killing people as an offering for rain, at what point did we suddenly stop being able to move on from religion, the oldest form of science, used as the only rational explination for things we didn't understand, now that we understand them, how is this thing religion still around?

As a kind of offspin of that point, I don't get how we don't have entire communal investment in medical and scientific research. How hundreds of billions are spent on weaponry to kill and destroy every year, instead of using it to further understand the universe, the human body and nature, such as stem cell research. Stem cells are THE key to medicine. It is the new penicillin - a defining moment in medical and human history - when we leaped forward in our advancements of treatment. It opens the gate to the ability to recreate and regrow ANYTHING. A human heart for transplant, limbs, organs, everything. Even eventually the possibility of of an integration of organic and mechanical beings, robotic organs - the possibilities are endless. How are we not focusing on this and putting more energy into it?

I don't get why the people who claim to be most opposed to bigotry and racism are the same people who see it everywhere and can't stop talking about it

Yiz are obsessed and take offence on behalf of others even when nobody was offended

Was just reading a thread and the OP felt they got bad service and the Polish deli assistant had poor English.

Nearly got blasted for saying that and bringing up her nationality

People in front line service should have good English surely, don't see what there was such a reaction

IMHO, I notice it when people make cracks about my wife's nationality or openly abuses us because we are a mixed couple. Or when a previous gf was told to "go back to Africa". Or even as a kid, when I was told that I wasn't "really Irish" because I had an American mom.

You kind of become aware of people's ignorance from an early age and do your best to put a stop to it, if you can :)

I agree that alot of people are overly PC when it comes to this sort of thing, but I also understand that some people have reasons for being overly sensitive. I think the fault in this case is with the person who takes needless offence. There is a thin line between mentioning someones nationality and being viewed as a racist. Most of the time, it's just plain silly. A person should be able to mention someones nationality casually without it having a negative connotation.

Anyone who says 'totes' instead of the word totally, should be shot on sight. Heard it a few times last weekend by a few young wans i could hear talking when i was at the bar. Too much of Talafornia, Geordie Shore and other brain rot.

If your "mom" is of full Irish ancestry, then you are indigenous to Ireland. If she isn't, then neither are you.

If I move to a country in Africa with a non African partner, have kids there, my kids will not ever be truly African. Same with an African moving here.

This is basic stuff. Not Ignorance.

Agreed. People who take their time in the gym. 5-10 minutes between sets. You're not getting as much benefit with that carry on.

Do your workout efficiently. If you arent wrecked by the end then there was little point in coming.

I don't get the people that sit there on their arse on a machine and are using their cell phones 'in between sets'.. Inbetween a set aint 15 minutes filthy talking to some bytch on your mobile (or maybe their girlfriend, who knows). Weren't you meant to be working on your lats that you used to get them girls in the first place.

I also don't get why men dominate a machine with like 5+ of their friends. Why don't you just buy a lat pull down, you may as well since you and your mates have been using it for an hour.

Or people who call themselves hardcore gamers because they just play CoD, Battlefield, etc all day but won't give a second look at non mainstream games or games on a Nintendo console.

I don't get why if you like something like movies (or tv or games) and can maybe name a few actors or directors and other films they've done, then you're a movie geek or nerd. But if you like sports such as football, being able to name loads of players from multiple teams(not just the team you like) from the past 20 years then you're just a fan. Why aren't they called football geeks?

I've had so many arguments over this, you get the head eaten off you for saying the term 'football geek'.

The wimmins in the office can call a lad fat or tubby or chubby and he must grin and bear it.

    Cannot retaliate

As if a lad in an office turns around and calls a lady the same thing every women in the office will turn on him, ostracized for a long while

Now he should not stoop to their level but it is a double standard

If a young attractive girl starts in the office she won't be complemented on her figure or be asked for tips on fashion, hair, etc by the older women.
The old biddies will call her a "skinny bitch"

I've heard this skinny bitch insult around a lot lately, women can be vicious
Anyone who weights less then them and does not struggle with their weight is skinny

Staff in McDonalds who make a cup of tea but perform a slow drawn out ceremony where time stands still as you look on. It's a tea bag in a paper cup with hot water, 30 seconds max wait not 3 or 4 minutes.

Yeah, now I'm not the type of person that hates 'rockers and goths', in fact I was kind of one myself years ago but I don't see how them all dressing the same shows their individuality.

EDIT: Also, I don't get why people complain when you're making noise in the morning/afternoon and wake them up from a sleep in (from being lazy, not working late). The way society works is that people wake up during the day and sleep at night, I won't sneak around the house just because you're nocturnal...

A few people mentioned "fake tan". Fake tan is great you won't notice it if done right. It's taneraxia that's wrong, or tanned body and completely white face, orange tan etc.

I actualy despise the name of it even - 'Fake tan.'
Think it sounds horrible, smells horrible and in most cases looks absolutely dire. Even the subtle fake tan doesn't appeal to me... Don't get the whole thing!

I don't get people who spend a fortune to do up a small car so they can drive around all day. Or cruising, if you prefer. They seem to be trying to pick up women but then there's so many guys in the car, you wonder how they plan on it. Not to mention if my car sounded like theirs, I'd bring it to the garage to get it checked out.

I really don't get why they lower the cars. Especially around places like Donegal which is pretty much hills, potholes and speedbumps everywhere.
