    Opinions wanted on this case:

I was stopped by guard for doing 104kmh in an 80 zone. Now the issue I have with it is that I was sure it was a 100 zone. I said this to the guard and mentioned that I didnt see any signs. He said there are 'any number' and also said that my whole journey from my home address had been an 80 zone and that I had been breaking the speed limit all that tiime. He was wrong on this point as the majority was 100kmh. He then back tracked on that point.
The killer here is that on my return journey, I looked out for speed signs. The nearest sign was 27 miles away and it was turned away from the road. Therefore the last sign that was actually visible to me was a 100 kmh sign. In theory, this should be worth a challenge but Im wondering if its worth the hassle.

Theres no signs warning you of a speed camera van at all,its one of those new camera vans.

And the van was hidden/obscured from view,so no one could see it,untill they were right on it.

The new go safe vans have signs to alert drivers.

You don't need to see it because the camera sign tells you where they are.

It's no secret where these go safe vans are located.

Hes questioning the location of the speed camera van with regards to whether he was clocked doing 70kph while still in the 80kph zone.

I think this point here will be an interesting one to see raised in court.

I'm sure we've all seen both Go-Safe and Garda vans parked within 100m or so of speed limit changes. Given that these vans have ranges well in excess of 100m, it is certainly possible that you could be clocked at say 70km/h whilst still in a 80km/h zone, and have slowed to below 60km/h prior to passing the 60 sign.

How do these vans prove that you were in the 60 zone, and not in the 80 zone when clocked?

Paddy147, you say 80kmh to 60kmh on the M1? Is that a temporary limit in place? Would you be open to telling us where on the M1?
I had a similar experience I would share via pm that may be of help.

Hi everyone I need a bit of advice I was interested in buying a car so I took it for a test drive and was stopped by a check point the car was taken off me for no insurance no tax or nct. Also no licence which I did have. So they took the car and I had to pay for the car anyway. So tonight the guards turn up at the door with court summons for all of the above and non displaying of disc which brings them to about 8 charges. The car I was driving was an alfa romeo but the summons is for a land rover can anyone tell me what I should do and also what im looking at in court. Im really scared as I never have had bother with guards. Thanks Leann

Probably better to start a new thread with your problem, rather than dragging up a two year old thread which deals with a different topic.
