Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Either way I expect violence, on the field, in the stands or on the streets after this. Sad but I think thats what we'll be talking about tomorrow

Hmmmmm. Got the lotto numbers? Don't bother! :p

Boateng is a centre back playing full back. He himself doesn't enjoy playing there, it's the reason he left Man City. Really not much between him and Johnson in that position, in my opinion. I'd say Johnson even shades it.

Terry's uncomfortableness has been overstated. In patches he was, but for the most part has been a rock in a side that wasn't very adventerous against France and Ukraine. Badstuber has generally been solid, but looked uncomfortable against Bendtner's height last night and I can recall in the Portugal game he let Coentrao and Nani (got booked for bringing him down) run past him. Still Terry, for me.

Lescott is just criminally underrated in world football, if he was called Joleon Di Lescottino maybe he would be as highly rated as say, Vincent Kompany.

Ashley Cole is a twat but the world's best left back.

It's all hearsay at the moment really though. We'll find out who is right soon enough ;)

Yes, it can be argued, but realistically you have to look how they're playing together. As mentioned on the other thread, Serbia may have the best back four on paper in Europe.

I'm not saying they're not all very good defenders. Definatly the players present have it in them to be a very very solid back four but we haven't seen enough from them yet to determine if they're capable of doing it in this tournament, whereas we have seen it from other teams.

That's such a lazy criticism about Theo Walcott, IMO. He had the most assists of any English player in the Premier League and was its fifth highest goalscoring midfielder (behind Dempsey, Bale, VDV and Lampard). The season before he scored more goals in fewer games.

Him not having an end product is a myth perpetuated by the media.

I think Theo's stats are flattering for last season... the amount of chances that he gets and fails to do anything with is unreal. He is VERY inconsistent and an infuriating player to watch at times, but when on form can undo anyone.

Yeah but the point is that his pace and directness mean that he gets far more chances to score or create a chance than most players do. Some of them he stuffs up. Others he pulls off a great cross, a killing cut-back or a deft finish. Often he yo-yos from one extreme to the other in the same game (the Spurs game at the Emirates a few months ago being a perfect example).

That's what you get with Walcott but he'll be one player who no team will be happy about playing against and it seems to me that you want him on the pitch for the maximum amount of time to give him more chances to hurt teams.

England were lucky to win last nite - will be interesting to see how much further they get.

Blatter is knocking on now about goal-line technology but why stop there? If the goal was given then England would be calling for rugby style replays for the lines man. Goal-line technology isn't the be all and end all. Replays need to be brought in for offsides too.

I completely agree. Back in 2006, my club were robbed of likely the only major cup semi final we'll ever make by a 114th minute bad offside decision. I can joke about it now but I'll never get over it.

IMO, as much of the game as possible should be refereed in the stand by officials watching screens, but I appreciate that that may be a step too far for now. At least there should be a challenge system in place like there is in other sports.

I see Pierluigi Collina has pinpointed human error as the reason for the disallowed goal. Collina's kind wouldn't make those silly mistakes we do!
