Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi my name's toastedpickles and I'm a beadophile :P

Gave the car a good going over yesterday, using an wide range of Autoglym things I got as a present ages ago, Meguiars clay and Turtle wax metallic wax...I think that's what it was called anyways, I'm very new to this detail/cleaning lark

    So whats the verdict?

I washed the car today and finally got to see just how good the EXO beading is:

    944750_557850000923330_1639894527_n.jpg

It's amazing  All those little dots you see isn't mist but tiny, tiny beads.

I had the car washed and dried in half the time it used take before the C1 and EXO were applied.

Collinite 845 two months ago. I washed it two weeks ago and used some simoniz quick wax to dry off the car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 594 ✭✭✭fanadman1

ok my best effort :P car was buffed useing t-cut coulor fast sealed useing t-cut colour seal and then waxed useing ag hd wax

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,590 ✭✭✭✭vectra

No close up of actual beading but you get the idea.
This has nothing applied except for 2 coats of Gtechniq C2V3.
When I say 2 coats I mean spray, wipe, that simple, No buffing,

Can't wait to get it on my car.

After 3 months, this is how the beading is after applying Gtechniq C1 and EXO. Since then I have not applied anything by way of polish/wax/more EXO. The car has just been washed and dried every week without even using a quick detailer, just a microfibre cloth.

I applied a coat of Collinite yesterday and this is what greeted me this morning:

The bonnet was almost bone dry. It's slippery stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

That stuff is great. Mine still looks like that since I last used it in July. It will last a good while before needing a top up, some say 12 months.

So I believe. I was using Megs Tech wax 2.0. It was piss easy to apply but didn't last very long. The Collinite is a little harder to apply, but once I got my technique down it was pretty easy. A quick twist of an applicator in the tin and the thinnest coat possible is the secret. I did 2 panels at a time, going back to buff the first panel after applying to the second.

I might stick another coat on this afternoon if I can. Should be me sorted for the winter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,720 ✭✭✭Hal1

I dampen the applicator in warm water before applying the wax. It goes on so much easier, but only do it on a 'fresh panel' as it might smudge a newly applied coating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,822 ✭✭✭stimpson

I did use a damp applicator. I used this guys techniques which work really well:
