Hi guys going camping the weekend and bringing the hound. At the moment a high viz jacket for him is on the list to bring as is a long length of rope so he can walk about at a good distance. Just concerned if it gets too cold for him. (he is a great dane so has short hair coat). Is it best just to bring a load of blankets for him?

You'd be surprised how warm a tent will get (assuming he's sleeping inside with you).

All you'd really need is a blanket so he's not lying directly on the floor of the tent and maybe a second one to throw over him if he gets cold, but he probably won't.

yeh he will be in the tent with us. it will be a squeez as he has no concept of space allocation :). I am bringing his doggy mat/blanket for him to lie on and may bring some blankets for him to keep him warm

Laughing at the op who thinks that the dog won't end up getting into bed with him. :p

We bring ours camping and they can be a bit clueless. We have our blow up bed and the rest of the floor covered in clean vet bedding, It's warm and comfy so the dogs tend to curl up together on the floor. Until we fall asleep, then we usually end up with the two of them lying across us or between us. They are definitely more comfortable than us!

Best part of camping is waking up with 2 dead legs and a happy cosy dog :D Where are you going? We're always looking for new dog friendly camping places. Dying to try "The secret Garden" in River Valley.
