6th year in secondary school or adult education?

Where do you think a 20 year old should go? I could be miserable in secondary school because everyone has cliques by then and I might be left out in the cold. On the other hand, I would prefer to be around people near my own age and people in 6th year secondary are typically 17/18.

I have roughly 48 hours to decide, something has to give.

If it were me, I would go with the adults - they tend to be more focussed.
You might be surprised who you end up friends with. In Adult ed. people's age doesn't really matter.

Do the Leaving Cert and get that completed. Then if you are really still interested in Adult education do it after. With the market as it is there is not exactly a rush to get out there so time is on your side. So in 3 years time you could have you LC and some type of Certificate course under your belt.
You've obviously spent 14 odd years in the education system, why throw it away now for 9 months. Go to school, and focus on what your there for, get you LC, and get out in 9 months time. So you walk between classes on your own sometimes and eat lunch on your own sometimes. Its only for a few months. I'm a bit concerned that a 20 year old is worried about cliques, and forming friendships with teenagers, and that that is going to make them miserable. If that the case I think you need to take a look at why your asking the question. If you need to make friends look at other ways. Not trying to be harsh here.

Depends on where you plan on doing it. I'm twenty and repeated in the institute, didn't find it cliquey at all. Sure you'll be too busy studying to pay attention to others

Sooooooo after finding digging more info, my options are the following.....

6th year for 1 year with repeats and the occasional older (mature) student for E180 p/w (BTEA) or E100 a week (part time course and get to retain my JSA) for a 2 year adult education course?

I did 5th year before, but badly. Hardly attended 10% of Maths classes.

More advice would be welcome!

There's VEC colleges like Rathmines or Plunketts. Most will be different ages. I repeated this year a few of my friends were 19/20, there would be people around your age. One is even repeating again and he'll be 21. The ages vary .

I misunderstood. I thought your question was whether to repeat your Leaving with school age people, or repeat in an adult setting with adults.

Is the 2 year adult course aimed at doing the Leaving Cert. or is it a FETAC award?

If you haven't done the Leaving at all, I'd do the 2 year LC course.
If you made any attempt at the Leaving, I would go with the adult one year repeat Leaving, as the previous posted suggested specialist adult courses like Pearse or Rathmines in the City of Dublin VEC.
