Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Very good band. Been following them since 2007. Not sure about the insurance. They are doing shows soon and hoping people can help them out.

Pfft! Tribute band? Forgive if me if I don't cry myself to sleep.

Making a quick buck off other bands' success by forming a 'tribute band' is just lazy. Nobody needs a tribute band.

And don't tell me they do it for the love of the music and nothing else!

    Not while on the road.

I got an e-mail the day after this happened from a friend in California that plays in an AC/DC tribute band. This is devastating to these musicians, because this is how they make their living. I hope they find these ****ers and they get what is coming to them.

There seems to be a lot of this happening to traveling musicians lately. I know that Tom Petty recently had their practice facility robbed (they were fortunate to have everything later recovered). Guthrie Govan and his band were hit while in Rome with an extensive list of gear being taken.

That's a f*cker. It'd be like if you were a footballer and you woke up one morning to find some d*ckhead had robbed your legs.

Elvis Costello said it back in the 70s. Every musician is a thief and a magpie.

I've known many musician's that use their tribute bands in order to get their original music heard. We used to follow a Pink Floyd cover band back in the 80s who would open for themselves and do their originals.

The state of music today is in a shambles because of shows like X-Factor and American Idol. The idea that the 'one hit wonder' is more important to the record industry is a criminal. Money is not spent on trying to develop bands anymore, so they have to play wherever they can just to be heard.

I'll also go as far to say that if there weren't many of these 'tribute bands' out there, you would see some amazing performers music fade away with time. These bands keep an interest in these bands going, which in turn keeps the original catalogs selling as well as merchandise for these performers.

I dunno about that. I can get you a set of legs by three o'clock this afternoon. With nail polish.

    What a shame.

This would not have happened if they had their Black Dog looking after the van! I'd say they were Dazed and Confused when they realised what was happening, but with some contributions and a Whole Lotta Love from all the fans, they'll soon be able to Ramble On.

    sorry

    You make some good points.

But at the end of the day, they're playing someone elses music. There's nothing creative or talented about them (that they're showing, besides playing instruments).

    Just not for me.

I wouldn't say it's only X Factor and American Idol that's the problem, the problem trancends genres too I think.

I mean, look at all the indie/country/folk bands and musicians there are. Most that get played or gig it's usually their first or second album/concert here.

Then they fade into obscurity because something 'new' has come along.

Nobody follows bands anymore really, because there's just overkill in the industry with something/someone 'new' coming out every day.

Maybe stop judging music by what you watch on telly, and go see some real bands live? There are plenty of good bands around with big followings, but you have to go out to see them. And sometimes those bands play some covers too.

I say this respectfully, but it sounds like it is more of an attention span issue more than a music issue.

I've been incredibly fortunate enough to see some of the greatest musicians/bands in the world in my lifetime. When I think about some of the concerts/festivals that I have seen, I am really left in awe. I'm going to guess that I am probably a good bit older than you (I'm 44). I've been going to see bands play since 1979. I just feel that you are really missing out on an incredible experience with that train of thought.

I think people are missing (or choosing to miss) the point here. Some hardworking individuals have had all their equipment, the tools of their trade robbed by some scum.

Of course, if there wasn't a market for stolen goods, then there wouldn't be as much thievery going on.

How dare they?!. After Led Zeppelin spent ages writing all their own lyrics.
