Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I am sure this will just add to the many car recommendation threads but this forum hasn't failed me in the past :)

I was considering upgrading my existing car; Mk4 Golf 1.4L Highline (02 with 53K miles on it) to something a bit newer.

I am not really tided down on any particular model/make but I really do like Golfs or Audi A3 and would prefer a hatchback. My budget would be about 15k.

So far I have test driven a Golf GTI and well... I loved it, really loved it. I had to wipe the drool off the seat when I was finished.

It was 07 5Dr with a sunroof, 18" alloys and DSG, had 50k miles on it. The asking was 14,950 and with the car above as a trade in offered it for 12,000.

I am 26 and have a good few years no claims so insurance/tax isn't going to break the bank so will not ignore it for that reason. But just wondering what the lowest I should say to them would be? Would I be cheeky if I said 11k...

Also mentioned that they would fully valet and buff the car, the alloys had a few serious sketches on them that they said would be fixed when sold... I didn't really like the sound of that, don't see why that can't be done now before I hand them the cash.

Any other recommendation would be greatly appreciated! Cork area. Diesel or Petrol but I wouldn't buy privately.

    Thanks.
