Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are instructors allowed to charge money for the EDT logbook?

I booked my first lesson (a once off) and the girl on the phone said that because I'm not opting for the full 12 lessons I will have to pay for the logbook. Is this even legal? This whole system is a ****ing racket and I just can't afford to be shaken down for any more money.

Is the logbook not something small like €5?

The logbook is not free to the ADI, he has to buy them from the RSA.
If someone books a number of lessons the ADI may offset this cost. If someone only books 1 lesson I think it is entirely reasonable for him to pass on the charge.

oh I just remembered my ADI has my deposit for logbook :D
In first lesson he said he has to buy them from RSA, and what happens is person starts doing lessons, gets logbook then stops and drops so logbook gone.

Each logbook costs us €4. We are entitled to pas this cost onto the pupil.

What isn't on is ADI's charging €10+ per logbook or as in the post above a deposit.

If any pupil is asked for more than €4 or asked to pay a deposit refuse to pay the additional amount requested.

And if he/she charges the €4 it cost them he/she has lost nothing. As I said to you before it's a ploy to try and retain you as a pupil so that you get your deposit back. Nothing more than a racket imo

Yeah but tbh I don't mind paying him more, I learned a lot and he explains clearly.
