Will Balotelli have the balls to take a penalty the way he normally does if this goes to pens?
Apparently he sent Hart the wrong way 10 times in a row once in training.

Pirlo having a lovely stroll in the park.

Teams should be given an extra sub or 2 when it goes to extra time

He was probably throwing darts at him!

As have Welbeck and Carroll. The one consistent variable? A rubbish midfield relying on a half-fit Gerrard to do it all.

I think Carroll's been good actually, suits this system down to the ground

Wellbeck & Carroll have been considerably better than Rooney.

Why would he smile during a match and after just not scoring?

I can actually see nothing but an England win on pens tbh.

    One of those games

BBC commentary really starting to grate now tbh.

Rooney managed to mess up 2 good moves that Carroll started in the last 5-6 minutes.

"Be a shame to go out to a west ham reject"

Erm the only rejects on the pitch atm are the England team.

That England band make me long for the return of the vuvuzela.

Good to see Ashley Young continue to cheat and dive and cause a man to miss a potential semi final, maybe the biggest game of his career.

And the Beeb said nothing about it either. Its only Johnny Foreigner who dives and cheats.

Indeed. Carroll has actually done well enough since he came on.

Hodgson is so so fortunate that there is no expectation on England, and he is English.

Capello would've been slaughtered for these kinds of performances England are putting out.

i don't disagree with the way Hodgson is going about things given the players he has, but it's funny how well he's been received by the English media in particular compared to his predecessor.

I think Walcott has done well enough, has looked lively.

says it all about henderson when his lfc teammate (andy) turned back and held up the ball rather than pass it to him

Of all the games that could have gone into extra time why did it have to be this one?

Its a shame one of these will win the game.

His acceleration is awful. Once he gets going he's reasonably quick.

Englishmen biased during a huge English game speaking to a predominantly English audience?

I wouldn't fault Italy's attitude tonight. And England well, we all knew they'd play like this (personally I can't blame them considering what they've got).

Nonsense. Carroll is doing exactly as I said earlier. Wins flick on, holds up ball, Italy stand off him because they know he has no runners and no ability to do anything with it himself.

England's best chance since the start came at the end when Rooney nicked the ball off Pirlo and exchanged 3 quick, one-touch passes before almost getting on the end of the knock on.

But sure, why not, Carroll and Welbeck were way better.

All honeymoon period, not together long enough and not really his team. He can't lose.

Wait till Brazil 2014! They'll turn on him then.

And they're not even that good. Spain will walk this tournament in second gear just as they did the World Cup

I think that's Maggio thanking Young for conning him out of the semi.

England must have been practising penalties all week. It's difficult to see what else they could have been working on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

Anyone think that England would have been better off with a wingless wonder formation? Carroll with Rooney and Welbeck off him and Gerrard, Milner and Parker in midfield. Johnson and Cole providing the width. Can't be worse than this.
