Im sure if the private visit to Lismore by Prince Charles could be described as "grossly offensive", then we will see mass resignations from Sinn Fein due to the fact that Martin McGuinness is going to attend the Jubliee Celebrations and meet the Queen in the occupied 6 counties????

Astonishing really when you consider that a little over 12 months ago these lads were carrying placards and protesting at her visit to the Republic as the head of a neighbouring state?!! In their eyes the visit was "premature" and anyone that met the Queen was regarded as a traitor and a sell-out. Now they have no no problem meeting the Queen in OCCUPIED 6, where she is officially the Head of State!!!

the placards last year had the caption "800 YEARS. What's changed?". Maybe they might answer the following question "12 MONTHS ON. What's changed?"

Think maybe you should post this in politics.ie. Here the main talking points are where to get a lawnmower, good places for a curry and where is there a good cat shelter, everyday things really most of us are indifferent to the Queen and who chooses to meet or not meet her

The Sinn Fein politic strategists judged to mood wrong in relation to Queens visit and now have to change the rhetoric. All about the votes and not their beliefs

Indeed. Nationalism is pretty much a dead issue for modern Sinn Fein. In fact, it's an embarrassment and only plays with a percentage of their target vote.

That's just it. If SF don't make any mistakes and distance themselves from their previous lives as much as they can I honestly think they will stroll into power come the next general election. Getting rid of all the old guard would guarantee it but the mood has already turned on FG and LAB, can't see FF having a chance for a the next decade so that leaves SF.

They are playing it "right" if you ask me and only a moron would leave them now they are on the up. I think it's great for the simple reason in that anti UK shiite should be committed to history and this although a political choice is a good step.

If it was, then it would be modded to hell and back. Politics.ie is probably a better place for it. I do remember that a few Boards.ie mods popped up on Politics.ie (the streams had crossed) and started trying to lecture posters as they would here and were laughed out of it. :) As for SF's strategy - it has people talking about it.

    Regards...jmcc

politics.ie is a bit of a cesspit in fairness. I doubt there's ever been a serious political discussion on there. (100% realpolitik if you're into that sort of thing.)

Agreed and God help us if they were to get into power. Sadly I feel they could in the next few years, ie making up a government with one of the bigger parties. For the next election Lab are fuc$ed, thank God, which will mean that someone will possibly have to go in with FG as i cant see FF getting near enough seats to go in on their own next time, and FF & FG wont join forces.

Just to point out that the meeting is not part of the jubilee celebrations at all
