Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fame or Family?

If you had to choose between unlimited riches and your friends and family, which would you choose?
Lets say that you were offered the chance to do something that would, without question, cause you to be disowned by your family and your friends forever but that would ensure you became rich beyond your wildest dreams, would you take that chance?
    I, personally, would not.
I would not swap. I dont think there is a pleasure that can be bought that comes even close to a good friendship, or knowing that a family is there for you.
I ask the question because I have seen quite a few cases in the media recently where people became both famous and estranged from their families.

You'd have to be quite cold and dead inside not to

If it meant being disowned, no. I'm too needy. And no amount of money would work.

Family. Money is nice but not worth the isolation and I couldn't walk away from the people I love for anything!

Until someone is out to take them away from you - then the more family you have, hopefully the more your back is watched and looked out for.

For me, my family (and friends) is my wealth.

You're never going to be able to properly answer these sort of questions unless the it is actually presented to you in real life, which is fairly unlikely.
    I'm going family....

Family for me but I have seen family rifts rip families asunder and destroy lives over money and/or the inevitably associated property.

I need a clearer definition of family before making my choice;)
Does it mean your own children or your folks, siblings etc?

There is a saying : '' He who loses his fortune loses much , he who loses his friends loses everything ''

    Fair enough.
It means everybody that falls under the umbrella of friends and family - so as a price of your new found fame and wealth you would have to sacrifice them all, every friend, parent, brother, sister, cousin, son, daughter, etc.
But on the plus side, you would be rolling in it.

O' no argument - that also is your wealth. :)

If you have no family and no friends, you're poor.

No money would make me give them up. I'll hang in there with them in all their annoying, irritating, demanding, dysfunctional, loveable glory. :)

Went for family - as head wrecking, needy, demanding as they are - I don;t think I be myself without them, can't imagine walking away from them all for money. Is there an option where you could have both ? - now that I could handle ;) You could employ a nanny and the like for when you didn't want to deal with them and only see them on their/your good days bliss :D
