Just because I'm a low level. It does NOT mean I'm rubbish.....

Bit of a ranty-rant here. But my god!....I came across this type of hypocrisy a couple of years ago and it's only now that I've actually wanted to vent on it.

Has anyone who plays be it Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, FIFA (maybe), or any rank-driven multiplayer game, ran into eejits on Xbox Live that throw this arrogant, cocky jeer towards you solely because you're like 30 levels lower than they are?

I've a good example (or two...) I can remember playing Halo 3 for the first time. Obviously I'm goin' to be level 1 to start off. Everyone has.. However, I will never forget my first game of it online. The players I was playing with begged me "not to suck", and pretty much ate me whenever I got killed. The end result being "trade the game in dude" or something along those lines.

Another example is recent. I jumped into a TDM lobby on Modern Warfare (can't remember which), and I was level like, 15 or something, I wasn't a high level at all, I rarely played the games. But I remembered not being particularly bad at it. I ain't God at the game, but I know how to press the trigger button... Anyway, the second i was thrown into the lobby, I heard a barrel of laughs coming from both teams in there. The players had all hit like 2nd, 3rd prestige, they're rank emblems were prestige-ish ones anyway but yeah, I never even hit 1st prestige but yet I've these lads laughing "awwh look at this guy" ..ha ..ha ..ha. I don't remember how good I did in that match but..

My point is this. These arrogant dopes being just that, cocky, swelled-headed clowns.. I be thinking "sure they were the same level as me one time before their heads quadrupled in size". But I really don't understand why they actually feel great from throwing these low-blows at players at a lower level.

A justified example would be that I was actually wound-up t'f*ck on Gears of War 3 for being a lower level. And I remember grabbing the mvp medal at the end but that's just my point though. I'm a lower level but it doesn't mean I'm complete and utter sh*te at the game, it just means I haven't devoted enough time to it as these other dopes have.

Really thought I had to get that off my chest as I've just came off of a game of MW3 filled with these eejits. I didn't do particularly well either. But I have my good days and I have my bad days. :p

My rant appears to be over now... But I wonder if anyone else can relate to me. Or is it just me? ha!

I really am a moody git tonight :p

At the end of the day it's a video game and being a high prestige won't get you a job(Unless you're a gaming commentator on YouTube)

Believe me, I actually have a similar thought going through my head when I hear these people go on.

Im sort of in the same boat as you OP, except when it comes to COD i am actually ****e at it. Have gotten plenty of abuse but in doesnt bother me, nobody died (in real life)

Just do what I do ....................... start a party and stay in that chat channel so you can't here those in the in game lobby, I must be getting dogs abuse but what I can't hear can't bother me :D

    Ignorance is bliss

Hated that kind of bullshít the first few times I played COD online. People who go about with such an attitude are the fools themselves for forgetting the work that needs to be done to unlock gear. Unless they did that crap where they leveled off eachother in the corner of a map.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,761 ✭✭✭DaveNoCheese

Hate that rubbish, lads who think they're gods cos they got to prestige 20 in 2 weeks

As it has been said, ignorance is bliss. Mute them or turn on party chat. Simples.

Usually play in a party anyway so thankfully don't have to put up with them mouthy feckers!

At the end of the day OP, don't let 'em get to ya :)

I did similiar until I started getting bombarded with messages. so now I have it sent to only receive messages from friends, and I can only hear people on my friends list. best of both worlds !

High prestige or levels do not relate to having a high skill at all. It all boils down to just putting the time in. I was kind of fortunate last year to be able to masters in my own time so decided that in my spare time would throw a fair bit of time into cod and get to the top prestige cause had never done it before in a call of duty game.Unfortunately the pricks added the extra 10 prestiges so ended up taking longer than I would have liked. I'm probably an average enough player but I figured out various ways to prestige quick enough ( when double xp was on for week managed to get from 15 to 20 using tokens and specialist). This had little to do with skill but was just grinding. Although saying that there are a few lads that are 20 and are some of the best players I have ever seen on cod and then the likes of kells and happy that didn't go beyond 2nd and get MOABS with out even trying.
As people were saying best thing to do is go into party chat or else mute the entire lobby. Most of the people you'll come across online are pricks cause they can hide behind the anonymity of being oline and aren't worth getting stressed out about. Play the game for the enjoyment of playing the game, forget about stats and what others might think of you as a gamer and you'll have alot more fun. Also pick up BF3.

Op, grow a pair. There is no point hiding behind party chat, you should have thick enough skin to take comments of being a scrub. We have all had to do it at some point.

Get back at the slagging gimps GoW style - crush them and beat them to death with their own arm, then message them calling them a scrub. (not being sarcastic here)

    Everyone does it to the lower levels. They do it for two reasons;
because it's been done to them
and because it throws your game off.

And when you die, they put you off your game more. And eventually you'll rage quit.

Well, not you specifically, but you in the general sense. Don't really see people giving a sh|t about it in BF3, but would this be more of a case of the CoD public community or what? On the PC myself, so only on channels set up by the clans, but I remember in the public channel with CoD had lots of muppets on the ingame VOIP thing.

At OP, can't you just call them gay and say that you slept with their mother in response, that'll shut them up

What to play with me, because I'm convinced I'm the worst player ever I don't play that much and I'm only level 39 maybe if I practiced I would be better, fortunately I'm old enough not to careless about people discussing my skill. And I'm still going to run around to get kills (and die a lot)

Let me know your gamertag and anyone else who doesn't mind being in poor inexperienced team.

My nephew, who is very rational and level-headed, asked me to mute his xbox when playing Modern Warfare online. I asked him why and he said "They're really stupid uncle Tom and they talk."

    He's 9.

    Can't argue with him really....

You're an Uncle Tom? **** you, man. Selling out your culture for the White Devil's handouts.

You get alot of this Elitist bull in these games, especially the ones with mass appeal.

I was on last night and i had prestiged by putting in the time. Im by no means a pro but i get by, I had a torrid time in one match and was then belittled saying that i hacked my xbox to get my prestige.

    People en mass are idiots.

To be fair, FIFA is on a whole different level to COD when it comes to online idiots. Honestly, one of the greatest decisions I have made in gaming was quitting the franchise entirely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

It's like choosing between AIDs and Cancer.

On the one hand, you have a load of quitting gimps who can't take losing and people trying to steal your Ultimate Team players.

On the other, you have a load of spotty teenagers who have put 2000 hours into the game, spinning around and shooting you with a sniper rifle as heavy as a small human along with a load of other ***** hosting modified lobbies to get that prestige emblem.

Happens in all games op. I started playing bf3 on the PC recently, and don't really give it much time so I'm on a low rank, but the amount of times you get called a COD noob is crazy!

Online gaming chat is serious business OP! If you can't take the abuse, stay out of it! Geez we're dealing with stuff that has serious real life consequences. A low level is a social death-sentence. You family wont respect you, your co-workers will ignore you and you'll most likely get fired. You'll be destitute and it will all your fault!

This is the single reason I gave up on Xbox Live, I like to play a game to relax, not take it so f*cking seriously as some of these guys do. Much more enjoyable playing offline I find now, saves on the ridiculous Live subscription pricing as well!

OP just plug in your headset, mute the mic, turn down the volume on it and then place it on he ground somewhere were you won't break it.

Then just enjoy gaming without having to listen to any of the idiots unless you want to

I have to agree with this ... Why have the headset on unless you're playing with friends? At least then you know the idiots that you'll be trash talking with.

Although, I have to disagree with the OP, just because I am a low level, generally does mean that I'm rubbish. But I don't mind pottering around and earning my keep by getting the odd kill. I play games mainly for the craic and not the super-dooper Prestige "best.player.ever!" badge :)

Some games are better than others..COD would be jammed with mindless numpties.
The new ghost recon thankfully has very few idiots so far.
