Brand new specialist aquariam shop opened up today in Artane.

    Artane Aquatics

Its in Butterly Business Park just opposite Tesco,Artane Castle.

Gavin,Simon and Sean are the 3 lads behind this new shop.

Serious fish stock of all kinds, and serious setup indeed.:)

I wish them the very best of luck with the new shop.:D

Yep,very experienced lads who know what they are doing and talking about.

They moved to Artane, which a much more central, and an easier and better location for the public to get to.

Artane is a bit of a kip. Nice to see a pet shop though.

We bought some beautifull Discuss from Artane Aquatics today.

    25 euro each,got 6 of them.

Going to leave them settle in for 24 hours with the tank lights off.

Congratts to the lads on a great setup down in Artane Aquatics.:)

We were out chatting with Keelan and Dar in Seahorse today,we took a spin out that way and decided to pop by.We were chatting away about the custom built sumped marine tank and what we are planning to do with it and also PH/KH levels in tap water and tank water.
We were also chatting about our Discuss tank too and the Stendker Discuss that we have in it.

Now the way I see it is this....

This thread isnt about "shop bashing".

We are friends with various shops and their owners, and its not about bashing a shop on the internet for us.

We give our business and money to various shops,as all of them are good in their own ways.:)

Seahorse Aquariams is on the southside.

Artane Aquatics is on the Northside,it is only 1.5 miles down the road from us.It is handy for us,as it means less money spent on diesel costs and also M50 toll fees too.

We give our money and business to both shops when we are in their location/area.

Im not picking out one shop over the other or shop bashing either.

This thread wasnt started to bash one shop around.

And this thread should also not be used to start having a pop at a particular shop either.

Maybe you could try and respect these points.

    Regards.

What are you waffling on about now Paddy. This is a discussion forum where people discuss different topics and sometimes with different opinions.

I wasn't "shop bashing". I dropped in there one day for a look and I wasn't impressed and thought Sea Horse was a better place. What exactly is wrong with that?

Should posters not be allowed post non-favourable posts?

    Another thread another argument Paddy.

Sinve when is this thread about comparing one shop to another or putting one shop down in favour of another???

Its your way of posting things. You are the only person to post in this manner.

You cant just be "diplomatic" in how you post.

Seahorse is near me so I'd use that normally but I'm driving by any other shop I'd pass in and have a look. If I see something I fancy I'll buy it

I understand that you might have a good relationship with one or more shop owners because of the amount of money you spend there, but many of us are not on a first name basis with them and as such the customer service received maybe is not 100% all the time.

I, for one, had a bad experience with one of the sponsoring shops from the fish forums that you, like me, frequent, but that didn't made me have a go at all other who were praising the shop. My point here is everybody is entitled to their own opinions and as such fred funk expressed his/hers. Don't go again on defense mode like you did on the bargain alerts thread because after all, we're all here to share the good and BAD experiences.

I didnt think this thread was about comparing shops though?

I also certainly didnt start this thread to turn it into a "this shop is better than that shop" thread.

Maybe if you want to start a thread yourself where you yourself and other people can compare one shop to another.

Me personally,I dont believe in that,as all shops and their owners are good in their own way and they all know each other and get along well with one another too.:)

    Regards.

So after all, we're allowed to post something in your threads ONLY if we agree with you? Last time I checked, the internet was all about freedom of speech.

I hear your offer and raise it: maybe ask the mods to lock your threads as soon as you post them, so nobody else will have a chance to have an opinion on them.

Than being said, I'll lock myself out of this thread as I have other, more important stuff to do then argue.

There aren't many fish shops around the Dublin area so they are naturally going to be compared to each other.
I was in there recently, I wasn't impressed at all. Hasn't a patch on Sea Horse.

Paddy, please tell me how what I said above is shop bashing? and why can't I mention another shop in this thread, is it against the charter?

If you look at the thread title and opening post........All I said and posted was a thread to say that a new aquariam shop had opened up in Artane, incase anyone was interested.
I also wished the shop owners the best of luck (due to a very tough recession and economic climate that we are all going through at the moment).

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=79399161&postcount=1

Im not wanting or asking for this thread to be locked either.

But I do feel it pointless going completely off topic on an alternative agenda to start saying and posting stuff like "this shop is better than that shop".

Maybe start a thread about matters like that,if you feel the need to discuss your situation and various shops.

    Regards.

Can we all calm down??There is back seat modding and ridiculous arguing going on here.
Consider this a one and only warning. If it continues I wii be issuing infractions

I use both stores to be honest.

Seahorse is my local, but I travel to the lads in finsfur now artane aquatics as well.

Both have different staff with different opinions, and different selection of fish.

Both offer exciting new additions to my tank, and like others above, I like to shop in different locations.

All I can say is, thank god we are still buying from local businesses.

Seahorse have specalists in Marine (Keelan) and fresh water(john) both excellent.. Artane have Gavin, this guy knows everything there is no know about live plants, genious.

I have learned some valuable info about fish keeping in both stores.

But all said and topic, best of luck to the new venture in Artane!!
We all know how difficult it is to start up a business these days... I have certainly learned this the hard way..

I dont go to Sea Horse anymore after my GF was sold a Figure 8 Puffer fish as a non aggressive fresh water fish needless to say i return home to chaos in the tank :(

If you GF had a proper conversation with any of the lads down there they wouldn't have solder her something unsuitable.

The have advised me plenty of times on mixes that worked/didnt work.

    Same with FFF.
