Nice race, good choice for a first OW swim... You'll be out of the water in under 10mins.

    I'm in for this.
Very near my home town so said I'd give it a whirl.
I'll be honest, the fast swim reports swayed me too :D

Most likely it will also be contended by Mr Trevor Woods who's won it some silly amount of times I believe..

Believe me, you'll be out of the water around the 10min mark. I swam 10.50 in 2009 and around 7 last year.. ask Tunney or JB what my swimming is like, not good :)

If you just sit back an float down the river you will be out in under 15 mins. Just make sure you move over to the left hand side way before the exit as it is easy to get pulled past the exit and leave yourself with a swim back up stream.

Lovely race, especially the return run along by the river.

    enjoy the outing.

Carrick was my first race in a long time back in 2007. Its a great race. As the folks have said the swim is more of a float especially if there has been rain in the days beforehand.

You'll rock it! Enjoy. Looking forward to the report.

A great race - well organised, nice course and always a decent goody bag - I still run in the rain coat that I got here in my goody bag in 2010.

The hardest part of the swim is trying to stand up in the flow before the race starts without being washed downstream. An aerodynamic turd would do this swim in about 11-12 minutes so there's no worries here.

edit: how much is this to enter, can't find it on the club website. Might do this as my first tri in almost a year........

The mods, plus at this late stage i don't think a transfer would be allowed as lists etc have to go into triathlon Ireland and they have a cut off.

the relevant bit of the charter
If you want to look for (or sell) race numbers because you forgot to enter on time then check that the race allows transfers (most don't). Forward the link or email which states transfers are allowed to the mods before posting your request. We'll close any threads that don't do this.

Ok, I got a message on Facebook from the guys over at Carrick Tri to say that they will accept transfers up to 4pm Thursday which I forwarded to RayCun.

Is that all I need to do?

    Ha :)

I do recognise a few but fastest that I know is Rory Sexton, TI Junior.
Think he has a 4:30 400m swim pb and low 9's for 3k run.... Ahem!

No doubt others too so who knows.

Course is nearer 5.5k-6k run apparently.

Should be a bit of Craic anyway.
No NS points and just billed as a fun race training straight through it.
I'll give it a good bash and try hurt and see where I end up.

But thanks for the vote of confidence lol :D
