    Hey, Is it possible to open a bank account in the Uk without a Uk address? May have to travel there for work so will need a bank account. Construction related work so will be moving about therefore will have no real permanent address.
    Any help appreciated.

    The easiest way is to look up north. If you're with AIB/BOI/Ulster/NIB you may find one of their sister banks (First Trust/BOI/Ulster/Northern respectively) willing to help you. Ring one of their branches and find out, and take trip up if they are willing to go ahead :)

    The NI banking system is part of the UK banking system. It works identically to an account you might open in London, Newcastle, Edinburgh..

    If you do end up in the UK for work it's no problem opening a bank account. You don't need one in advance...

    If you rent a place and sign up for bills then proof of address is obviously no problem. If you are kipping on a mates couch then it's also no problem: just get buddy to write a document saying:

    "To whom it may concern:
    Joe Bloggs is resident at the following address.
    <address goes here>
    Signed,
    Joe Bloggs mate"

    Then hand in that letter, and your mates bills as proof of address. This is perfectly acceptable.
