    I am looking for a rough estimate for 2 different options. Basically I am looking to improve the security of my house (in an estate). I have 2 options:

    Option 1: New porch. Similar to this: http://www.astralhomeimprovements.ie/astral/Main/galleryPorch4.htm

    Option 2: New boundary wall, railings and gate
    * Detached house
    * I think the exisiting boundary wall would have to be knocked
    * New wall would be about 4ft high
    * The wall slopes up to the house (if that makes a difference)
    * The railings would be around 3ft high
    * Length of existing wall at front of house on either side: 15ft
    * Length of existing wall between garden and public pathway: 10ft
    * Quote (2009) for gate: €2,000

    Sorry, I know the measurements aren't great. Option 2 would be the most secure but I feel it might cost too much. So I might have to go with Option 1 - the Porch. I am looking for rough estimates for comparsion and to decide which one to focus on.
