HMP Blackthorn is a privately run prison so totally open to have corrupt warders.
but surely they can be looked into?

This popped up on Youtube today. Some people have too much time on their hands.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

What's under the floor of the workshop they're digging up?

My theory: the body of Carly Kirk

She was last seen fleeing the country at the end of Season 2

Be one of those scenes perfectly captured by Eddie Izzard
everyone in films, they're so swish. they're so smooth. so expert on their computers.

*pretends he is some smooth computer person in film* dum dum dum...breaking into the Pentagon computer. double click on "yes". whoa! password protected - twenty billion possible chances...ehh...jeff. hey!

people are how did you know? how did you know it'd be jeff? ahh, i knew there'd be a back door. in films, there's always a back door. the guy who made the software you see, he left a back door so that he could get back in when he wanted and look around and look at all the missiles and go "ooh". and put one on his head. and the guy who made the software was called jeff jeffty jeff. born on the first of jeff, nineteen jeffty jeff. so i put in "jeff" and hey!

LOD Reddit poster with thoughts on Ted's laptop

    And my thoughts in brackets
    • He was watching porn and he believes incognito mode isn't enough (nah)
    • He was contacting the OCG/Thurwell - he had been blackmailed over the property investment scheme (possibly)
    • He was leaking information to Gail Vella - as Chloe Bishop pointed out in an earlier episode, Vella had been making contact with more or less everyone AC-12 had put away, including those in Witness Protection. She would likely have needed an insider to know who was in WP. This seems the most 'morally right' and most like Ted. Obviously being on a last warning, this is likely to get him in deep trouble (great theory)
    • He just wanted rid of an old laptop and there's nothing dodgy. He had private data on and wanted it disposed of properly (nah, very unlikely)

That is a good theory about Ted leaking info to Gail Vella actually.
A lot of things from S5 were left unanswered and the story just seemed to move along. Would be good to wrap them up and tie them together, as Jed usually would.

Actually I don't think prison wardens are police.

They're not, but the anti-corruption will have licence to detain and interview anyone they believe is vital to their enquiries, irrespective of their occupation. As we've seen throughout the series.

Ted was typing furiously and in impatience having taken the laptop from junior IT officer, ge later said he did that to copy H s way of writing.

Which he obviously did successfully. Or not.

And you never answered about who said Thurwell was from NI. I'm pretty certain that's not come up in any episode.

Season 2 rewatch done, onto Season 3 another cracker.

I think Season 4 was only one I wasn't that mad about.

When Thurwell’s name came up, shortly afterwards Ted stared at his RUC graduation photo.

Oh yeah I didn't even think about that being the RUC. Just thought he was reminiscing sadly because of his imminent involuntary retirement. The camera panned over the names - was Thurwell there can anyone remember?

Didn't Ted have a Catholic buddy when he started and the two of them were lured into an ambush and his friend died? Maybe Thurwell was behind it? Or Ted has always suspected that he was?

Line of Duty wiki gives no NI connection and none mentioned in any of the episodes. Previous poster said that NI was mentioned when it wasn't. I think big assumptions are being made due to Nesbitt being from Ballymena. This ain't Bloodlands.

I remember NI references last season.
Cant remember exactly what they were but they were there, and important.

I don't remember any references to NI in relation to Thurswell. People are just assuming it because nesbitt is from there.

There is a reference in the first series. Ted tells Steve about the bomb that injured him and killed his fellow Catholic officer. From memory, Ted believes that they were set up. Also, I think makes some reference to him, Ted, being the blackest of all.

Would really have to re-watch the first series.

Yeah that's what I was thinking of

To be fair there was no mention of a connection between Thurwell and NI

But I was wondering if that was why Ted looked at that old picture after Thurwell was mentioned? Because Thurwell was involved in their being set up

It was me who said about the NI connection but not an assumption.
NI connection last season was Corbett was born there and lived there till he was adopted by a Liverpool family at the age of ten.
Who he might have lived with was not discussed just the fact that he was orphaned .
    Connection with Thurwell maybe ?
Also it was Ted looking at the RUC graduation photo directly after the discussion about him that put Thurwell in my head as from NI.
Jed Mercurio doesn't do these little scenes for no reason.
Finally, why pick an actor of Nesbitt's worth to just use his picture?
I have no doubt he is still alive and we will have a scene with him in..
That fella ain't there for nuthin!

If not an assumption then you've obviously got a link between Thurwell and NI. If so you're the first.

Thurwell wasn't mentioned until series 3.

And I think you're right about Nesbitt popping up, in this season or next.

Yes. He told Steve he had to leave and they never ' got the baxxxxd,' or words to that effect!

He said as much on Graham Norton a few weeks back.
Just said it was a small part..

No mention, no, but plenty of hints.
Anyway that's where I see it.
Looking forward to next Sunday night and finding out if I am right or you are.. wrong :D

They went to the bother of getting a younger looking Ted, and none of the others look anyway like a young Thurwell/Nesbitt to me?
