The Kettle Bell investment thing sounds like a complete scam. I'll have to watch it again but did former DCI Mark Moffatt try to squeeze Hastings for another £100k? Poor Ted is screwed financially but it looks like Corbett could resolve the need for signing divorce papers which has to be a positive in some respects...

This for me is the biggest reason why I don't believe Hastings is the 'top man' in the crime gang*. What's the point in risking so much unless it is very financially worthwhile? If he was, he wouldn't need to worry about a failed investment or an additional 100k to supposedly recoup his losses. The only person he'd really need to maintain the pretense with is his (ex) wife. And his bank, in case of investigation.

*He may be somehow involved in some of type of deep cover / Inception level operation but I would be surprised and disappointed if he was in fact the real 'top man'.

The laptop will not be related to the case here but probably an affair he is having or the financial stuff etc.
He is living on own in a Travelodge. Maybe he was watching porn.

Is yer one McQueen also an undercover officer?

What does Hastings wife do? Is she also a police officer? I just thought that Hastings might be covering for her - she's the only thing it seems he'd risk everything for. And then the wife could be "H"?

Yep, he is being asked to finance the recovery of his own money. At the moment he is so vulnerable he might just fall for it but to be plausible he shouldn't.

We have never been told what she does or did.

I was wondering that as well. Are the OCG basically all the UCO of the force!! :D:D

McQueen is not known to be but if course she could be. Could there be two separate infiltrations? Is McQueen actually working for H keeping an eye on proceedings?

There are shops now for secure disposal of dodgy laptops and hard drives? Surely AC12 should just put those shops under surveillance 24/7 and they'd quickly solve all their cases. :pac:

I never knew such places existed. Personally I prefer the combination of a strong magnet and a large hammer when it comes to hard drive disposal.

I noticed when John was communicating via the laptop, H spelt "definitely" wrong. Either a sign of how bad education has become, or a small sign John will use to identify H later on.

Yes, noticed that too. They hung on that for a fraction too long making me think it'll be important at some stage

Yeah, I started trying to pronounce it in Hastings accent to see if it was remotely possible that he'd say/spell it that way.

    It's not.

If anything he'd double down on the "i" sound

    "DefinIIIItely"

To me I hear it in
Dot Cottan's accent. He also didn't have a full education so the misspelling makes sense

speaking of personal lives..... does anyone else find it strange that Steve's ex is now back on the scene all of a sudden. And guess who her boss is..... Lester Hargreaves

Just caught up with episode 2 & 3 last night and I'm surprised the ex Sam isnt being talked of more. She does seem a bit too eager all of a sudden. Definitelt think she will have a much bigger part to play in this. Especially as she has worked so closely with Hargreaves should it not be very obvious for Steve and Co to be suspicious of her?

I’ve never seen LoD but the Goggleboxers are getting me into it! Can I just start watching the current episodes now, or would you need to have seen all of seasons 1-4??
I'm so envious of you Shelga! I strongly recommend watching it from the start. I only recently did so myself. Like you, I had seen bits and pieces that were just SO enticing, and wanted to throw myself into whatever point was available, but there are so many links going back seasons. Not always - I mean you could insert yourself into it now, but what's the point when you could pick up so much more insider knowledge? And at times you do need the bit of background.

Season one is just five episodes, the next three seasons are six episodes, then it's this season. The first four series are all on Netflix - you're in for a treat!

I find it strange that McQueen has changed so much, in the first episode she was a nervous wreck hiding in the toilet and now she’s full of confidence and the go between with John and whoever is typing

Think that's just the way Jed writes characters to throw you off the scent.

Same with Nadia in the Bodyguard.
I thought it was a big plot hole when she came clean in the final episode about being the master behind all the bombings.

My own thinking is she’s another under cover cop, ted is working with her...that was him pictured going into the brothel.

I thought it could be him but then I was wondering if it was the other Asian fella I can’t think of his name now, Hastings didn’t seem to give a toss when the image came up on the screen

If Hastings was mr big or H as the person is called he wouldn’t be losing his bollox on property deals and getting scammed into another

Yeah I know. There was no spoiler tags around it when I quoted it which kinda makes it pointless telling me not to read the post.

Anyway it's done now. Hopefully people use spoilers from now on.

Agree. Unless they give her a reason for acting like that ( and I'm not ruling that out) then it was just done for the purposes of throwing the viewers off the scent, and is not good writing in my view.

Nit picking really though. I'm still hooked.

The girl in the brothel said the man in the cap had a non-local but strong regional British accent.

Ted has that (Northern Ireland is a regional British accent, politics aside).

Who else is there? Is Dot's accent mad strongly regional?

    Any Scottish characters?

The cop that was killed had a northern accent, would the brothel girl class Northern Ireland as British most people I know in England don’t even know there is a border lol
