I haven't rewatched the end of the episode, but the transcript from the radio times doesn't mention a man?

    https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/line-of-duty-series-6-episode-4-recap-questions-theories/

“As we know, sir, officers’ samples are stored on the system to exclude contamination of crime scenes,” he told Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar). “Now, an officer’s DNA isn’t speculatively examined on a routine basis, and certainly wasn’t back when Davidson joined the force. But because the DNA deposits detected at the house weren’t assumed to relate solely to a police officer, they were compared against the whole system. The analysis detected partial matches to a nominal whose DNA is stored on other police databases. It’s identified over the page.”

In response to Ted’s I’m-very-shocked face after turning over the page, he added: “As we know, sir, there’s only one credible explanation for Jo Davidson‘s DNA matching this individual. They’re blood relatives.”

Ted’s response? “Mother of God.” Naturally.

When I watched it I heard it as He is identified over the page

Of these approximately 160 pages, the first 30 or so are covering series one to four. The 130 pages since then are just five and six, which still has three episodes to go!

That correlates all right. It was always popular enough and acclaimed, but it was into series four that it began turning into the smash that it is now. Series five it went stratospheric. I think that's because there was massive buildup to it, and all these hints that Hastings might be in the dock.

A further page beyond what the audience is shown I guess.

The subtitles say "He's identified over the page."

Season 4 is when my wife and her book club group began watching the show because Thandie Newton ("The clever robot girl from Westworld") was in it.

TBF I started watching because Keely Hawe was in it.

Yep, LoD s4 started just after WW finished (I'm like AC12 with the acronyms).

Denton is probably the most enjoyed cop under investigation.

The first clip of LoD I ever saw was her getting a hiding in prison - and although it was horrible, it did make me sit up and pay attention.

They're on the torrents too, plenty of seeds now that everyone is talking about it.

On the season 5 rewatch and it's amazing how many times the OCG close their communication laptop and it immediately cuts to Ted closing a laptop in his hotel room - the carrot they dangled was too obvious!

He's hurriedly got rid of it in the episode I just watched but I can't remember why he did so no mention of that please and thank you

Last I saw of Ted himself and Gill were about to do the horizontal tango

He claimed he was downloading porn, and he's very Catholic and stuff, and from the last generation to be taught that sex is filthy, so he's believable as someone who feels guilty for doing that, imo.

I watched the episode back again and a segment of Lakewell's phone call with Gail Vella stood out:
But sometimes the reasons for the cover-up are more obscure...
Well, it's got to be something pretty bad if you'd rather go with the story that you're basically a bunch of racists.
Arnott/AC-12 misinterpreted what was said, there isn't a racist element to the actions of the corrupt officers, the racist label is a misdirection. The media would focus on that element of the story but the truth is something else.

Derek Hilton speaking to Ted Hastings in season 1:
There are only so many drains you can look down before AC-12 becomes a laughing stock.

I don't doubt it for a minute, but Tony Gates is, uh, from the South. I'm sure you'd be mortified, Ted, mortified, if anyone formed the opinion that AC-12 makes a point of pressing charges against officers from the South.
Hilton was playing the race card in an effort to nudge AC-12 away from Gates and possibly exposing the OCG.

Reminds me of Hastings's line to Arnott “Nobody's blacker than me, son.”

Ted is hosting Have I Got News For You this evening!

Well, it's Adrian Dunbar, but hard to imagine there won't be a few sly references...
