Just wondering what prospective sellers/buyers of good forward store lambs are going to do/look for this year.Am in north west....didnt squeeze the ram lambs last year, had every year up to that...trade was great but prob lost 2/3 euro head on suffolks 35 kg+ and 7/8 euro on cheviot crosses 30 kg+,March born lambs selling in early Aug.
I reckon with lack of grass nationwide this year...(after terrible April for growth) castrating from now will pay off as buyers will have to hold lambs longer to finish them...when they buy stores from end July on,
what do people reckon?....I know around here twin lambs in particular are not nearly as strong as other years.

squeeze, but your getting late to be at it now... not good in the warm weather... the earlier you do it the less the set back if any.

Usually around teh end of september there is a market and a premium for Ram lambs for Muslim Festival. (could be wrong it may not be Muslim, just cant think of the name)

Other than that I think, Yes you would be better off doing it now.
Going forward if you find you have lots of Ram lambs during the season you might be better to put castration rings on them as young lambs.
