I don't care about the CC either, but I can't see how they can radically change and still be relevant. Most practising roman catholics are older and as such would probably have difficulty accepting such extreme reforms.

They would need to dramatically improve their PR for that one, I think:rolleyes:.

nowadays we have prenumpts and cohabiting agreements... make it so no priests can marry unless their spouse to be signs one.

its not ridiculous that they cant marry, but it is incredibly greedy. they used to be allowed marry as catholic priests until the vatican got smart.

one generation after implementing the rule, the churches finances and land holdings exploded. only well off people really went to seminaries and forbidding them from having kids meant that VERY often the priests just willed their possessions to the rcc when they died.

I assume a wife would be expected to be heavily involved in church activities and as a result would not work.

So the marriage breaks down and the wife is left homeless and with no means of financially supporting herself.

not necessarily... noone is forcing her to work for the church but if she is doing work for the church then they should have to pay her if she was divorced from the priest and give her a pension when she hits retirement age.

the church can easily afford it... also how many empty convents do the church own? if she divorced the priest then the church should house her in one of these convents until she either decides to leave herself or dies.

it can be done it just takes a pope with balls to man up and make it possible or see his beloved church die from neglect.

Yes the church can afford to pay them - it could also afford to pay compensation to the victims of clerical abuse, but that isn't happening is it?
