Can someone link me to a reasonably priced wireless mouse + keyboard? I will be using them for gaming but I don't need anything fancy. Thanks.

When do you need it by? This http://www.custompcreview.com/2012/06/22/sharkoon-announces-skiller-gaming-keyboard/ should be out soon in the UK and it's under €20.

I think I'll need it before the end of the week.

Would something like this be ok?

How much, exactly, do you have to spend? At the end of the day a keyboard is a keyboard so yes, it'll work ok but not fantastically. If you're looking for a decent keyboard and have the money I'd look into getting a mechanical keyboard. Many mechanical keyboards also feature something called “N-Key Rollover.” This means that your keyboard can handle an unlimited number of keys being pressed at once. Some mechanical and cheaper “gaming” keyboards usually top out at 6. It really depends on what you want and how much you're willing to spend.

For now I think I just want something affordable that works so I'll go with that one. If in the future I need to upgrade it I can. Thanks for the replies.

Don't use wireless peripherals if you're gaming. Get a good wired keyboard and mouse.

On that note, anyone got a decent mechanical keyboard & wired gaming mouse to recommend?

Razer's mechanical keyboard is meant to be good. And their deathadder is my preference for a gaming mouse. The microsoft intellimouse is also a very highly regarded gaming mouse despite the price.

You could pick up an old mechanical keyboard, make sure you get one which has a ps/2 connection too, so you get anti ghosting, which is very important for gaming.

My advise would be don't try save every cent you can on peripherals like mouse and keyboard, you're going to be using these things every single time you want to use your pc, and if they feel cheap, or don't work as they should, it will be the bottleneck to your enjoyment of your whole pc.

Although it's not a mechanical keyboard, the dell quietkey from like 1998(?) is fantastic. I've seen quite a few of them for sale for next to no money, and I'm using one now and it feels really great to type on.

Also; http://www.daskeyboard.com/ if you want something really really special.

I'm going for the Deathadder in my build, but I think I'll go for a QPad MK-50 for the keyboard, don't think the Black Widow is supposed to be very robust.

Dunno much about mechanical keyboards, but I have it on good authority that the Noppoo Choc Mini is a good mechanical keyboard. For mice, I've heard good things about the Razer Deathadder, the Steelseries Kana, the Zowie EC2 and of course the good old Logitech G400. Your preferred grip style (palm, fingertip, claw) will be a factor. Or... you could just say to hell with these fancy gaming mice :D and get this for €7.38. That's what I did and I'm happy enough (although the scroll wheel does squeak).

I will be taking the plunge next week on the Qpad MK-85 http://www.qpad.com/ .
I looked at them all and was going to get the Corsair Vengeance K90 but in the end I said f-it the Qpad MK-85 is the one I really want. Back lighting is a must for me because I game late at night.

Back lighting is a must for me because I game late at night.

Why don't you try some bias lighting (eg IKEA Dioder) and then get a real mechanical from Filco instead :pac:

The back lighting looks awesome on the MK 85. But, the Qpad has other features that have me interested as well. Like the full N-Key roll over via USB, Media keys, the high speed USB 2.0 ports and customizable profiles, programmable keys and macro recording. The Filco, which is good also, costs about the same. So I decided to go for the Qpad.

I did look at the CM Storm QuickFire Pro but, I didn't like the partial back lighting. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/coolermaster-storm-quickfire-pro-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-with-partial-red-led-backlight-on
It's a good keyboard for the money though.
