Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2nd hand iPhone

    Hi

I am thinking about buying at 2nd hand iPhone on adverts.ie and looking for some advice.

My fear is that I buy it off someone who has claimed off their insurance and the phone gets blacklisted and I have no comeback...
I hear there are a lot 2nd hand phones on the market as a result of insurance claims.

Is there anything I should look out for or is there any way I can tell?
Can the insurance companies or carriers actually block a phone?

    Thanks
    Nev09

Yeah it's always a risk when buying a phone 2nd hand.

    Some tips
*Buy from someone that already has some feedback as reliable.
*If you get a "weird vibe" during the meet just walk away.
*Bring your sim with you and insert into phone. If it works then the seller isn't likely to report phone stolen after you've met face to face.
    *Get a receipt.

    Paranoia mode
Bring laptop with iTunes installed and plug phone into that. A fake iphone will not be recognised by iTunes.

Another problem at the moment seems to be people getting iPhones on upgrade, telling you that it is locked to the network, being totally above board, and then stop paying the bill 2 weeks later, leaving you with a blacklisted phone.
