On Monday Westport won the Irish Times award for best town in which to live - beating off competition from places such as Cork, Killarney, Galway.

On Tuesday in an all-Ireland competition Westport won the award for best large town.

Congrats to all involved in Westport in securing these awards.

However it is now Friday - no further awards announced for Westport.- Westport people becoming impatient. Time for an enquiry?

Quiet weekend award wise but Rumour has it that Croagh Patrick will soon be upgraded to a class 1V relic as apparently JC himself spent one of his summers on a back packing holiday there before he took on the mantle of saving mankind.

I heard he had a pint with Michael Ring in Matt Molloy's after he blessed the Greenway.

It turned into a bit of a session as he did a loaves and fishes on it and they are still there. Michael Ring had to leave early as he had a funeral to go to.

Just spent a week there. Not surprised it won awards. However it does milk it on prices in certain areas. For example Westport house. The pubs have suffered a little. The towers is closed in the Keys. Anyone who visits westport should take a drive to Bertra Beach
