Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've been compulsively taking air into my lungs and pushing it out for 30 years. I've tried to stop, but I just can't help it.

I can only sleep in a made bed, otherwise I just do not feel comfortable.

things needs to be done in sets of 5 or 10, including volume. I will wait until the nearest 5 or 10 when it comes to time before I do something.
For example If I'm cooking and it's 5.28, I will wait until 5.30 to put it on.

    yes I'm a freak.

Cutlery must be in its place and all facing the same way, I freak out if it's not!!

Also I feel physically ill if I see weird "patterns", like eyes on a potato or a crack in the road, the worst was when I was in Tenerife and the style of wall over there had loads of mismatched gaps, I was on a bus and it went on for 2 hours...It was torture!!

I think everyone has some kind of OCD though some more so than others than just one or two things.

My ocd I suppose, things have to be put in there place so I know where they are but could be scattered, cluttered or tidy wouldn't matter from that point of view. Things be done a certain way, cooked a certain way things like that I suppose.

Hands have to be spotless whether its mine or someone else, can't stand dirty hands. Constantly wash my hands about 20 times a day I suppose.

Yes, hygiene -public toilets are my ultimate nemesis

Yes. I have never met anyome that has a phobia about them as bad as me.

The worst are the ones in garages.

I even have nightmares about public toilets.... usually once a month at least. :(

These aren't OCD that i've read!! the majority of these are called HABITS not OCD compulses ..as a mild OCD sufferer, i agree with the person that said unless you actually have OCD you cant understand it, but seriously 84% voting yes cause of little habits they've picked up over the years!? :/

I've found myself to be quite OCD when it comes to buttering toast.
I can't stand it when people dilly dally once their toast is ready and and they let it go cold so that the butter just sits on top and doesn't melt. It ruins the whole toast experience!
When I see my family doing it, I end up going to the fridge, getting the butter and offer to do it myself.
I find it strange that it bothers me so much.

The volume on the TV or radio has to be on an even number and I hate when people leave the lids off pens:rolleyes:

TV volume has to be on an even number or a multiple of 5.. A load of people seem to be like that too

From living with people who proved themselves to be regularly incapable of closing the front door properly and going off having left it open, I've developed pretty bad OCD over it.

When leaving the house now I regularly
-Check the lock is off the latch by pressing the catch in and letting it pop out a number of times
-Close the door, then pull the handle towards me a few times, push the door inwards using the handle
-Push against the center point on the door a few times
Then I'll walk to the car but sometimes I'll convince myself to check the door again before driving off.

If I'm leaving the house with someone and get in the car first, leaving them to close the front door, they've to demonstrate that it's closed properly like above or I'll end up getting out and checking it myself.

It's something I'm trying to shake and thankfully it only affects one little part of my day unlike some people but it's a fairly annoying thing to deal with and the fact that it came from other people's fúck ups makes it all the worse.

I have to flip the light switch 4 times, volume must be an even number, my phone must always be on full volume or have no volume at all:pac:

Lots more but I think I will leave it at that:cool:

Absolutely not OCD, but since the whole thread is not really about OCD, but just habits or obsessions, well

Hubby is a sparky with an extremely particular boss (not a prob, he sees it as a good thing), and it drives him mad if we go somewhere and he sees a socket or light switch which isn't on straight. I never used to notice them before.

It's strong enough that if there's a show on telly with one of those showing in the background, he absolutely cannot concentrate on the show, finds it really difficult to understand anything that's being said. Have to say that tends to be less of a problem now we don't get Irish telly, and can only watch it on our impossibly slow internet, so rarely do :D

ETA: Ditto for messy wiring on ceilings, behind tellies, etc
