Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hi folks,

    not long back and am building up the farm a bit. I am just reading about some of these schemes and am disappointed that I missed them. I have a few acres of commonage which is not much use for anything and these schemes would have been perfect for it. And the land has been idle so long anyway.
    I know recession an all the rest but

    Any chance of anything like this coming round again?

    I very much doubt it. I know there has been a rumour doing the rounds of AEOS opening again for a short time but I can't see it happening.

    Don't hold your breath. The real danger is that the whole funding for the CAP, is now in serious danger, due to last weeks deal to inject money directly into the failing European banks. Where is this cash going to come from?
    Reality is a lot of it will be from existing schemes, which will be severely whittled back and the money diverted into propping up the euro and the European financial system!
    Of course the governments and euro leaders will say, that farm incomes are up a lot do there is no good reason not to cut the CAP!

    Agree with you on this, the improved farm prices could act against us in CAP negotiations

    QE? - I'd say they'll simply follow the Fed and the BOE on these matters.
