Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't know how this slipped under the radar, search it here and only found one post with it burried in an LOI Thread!

Udinese have become the model of how to run a small club, reaching the CL spots two years in a row!

They have an amazing knack of unearthing young players from all over the world, nurturing them, bringing them into the first team and then selling them on for big money.

Giampaolo Pozzo also owns Spanish club Granada where they have also implimented the "Udinese Model".

Rumor is that Gianfranco Zola will be made the manager of Watford later this week after former Westham director Gianluca Nani was appointed technical director a few days ago.

I think this is really interesting for Watford, they will have access to player on loan from Udinese, which has to help them a lot and will give the young Udinese players needed game time in a competitive league.

And it will also give them great scouting resources as Udinese and Granada share a scouting network which now be expanded by the addition of Watford.

What would happen should Watford or Granada some years down the line were to qualify for the same European competition as Udinese? Pretty sure the same owner can't have 2 clubs in the 1 competition...

I would have thought this will cause problems if any team end up in the same competition down the line, that's not allowed afaik

It is however very unlikely to be fair, and if that situation arose, Pozzo would be able to sell for a very healthy profit.

Only one team can enter, you can't even have Udinese in the champions league and Watford in the UEFA cup.

The team that qualifies for the more prestigious comp plays in europe. If they are in same comp then it comes down to highest qualification ranking or UEFA co-efficient Ranking.

That'd be my post I'd imagine and it's because I'm a Watford fan!

Udinese/Granada players gaining experience in English football would also spend time living in England and learning the language, which would increase their value to English clubs.

Be interesting to see what their goals are for Watford, to make them PL regulars or just used the club as a training ground for future Udinese stars. Will not be an easy job to get Watford promoted, it might require a lot of money.
