Very Cheap Build

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get a Pc for my business.

1. What is your budget? [€250]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Word and Excel, Invoicing,Email. Nothing more strenuous than these.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Monitor,mouse and keyboard.

5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [-]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [No]

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [Speakers]

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No]

8. How can you pay? [Credit Card/Laser]

9. When are you purchasing? [Next week or so]

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [Can build myself]

I'm hoping to keep this as cheap as possible while still being half-decent performance wise. The PC I have at the moment is very old and painfully slow so any sort of an upgrade will be an improvement. Any help would be appreciated.

You could just put an SSD into your current one, get a cheap one, and just install the OS on it, and store all your information on the current HDD inside it. You'd be surprised by how much faster an SSD makes an old computer. I put one in our 6 year old desktop with XP and the speed increase is very good.

I'd prefer to get a completely new build.This PC must be around 15 years old at this stage and it owes me nothing..It's running Windows 98(upgraded from 95 :pac:) so its unbelievably slow.It's extremely laggy even opening up emails.. I think it has 256mb of ram.I'd prefer to spend the money on a new one that would last me another few years .

I'd buy something of adverts.ie - some great office machines going for under €100 on any given day.
