Custom Gaming Rig

My old system has served well for the past 5 years, but its starting to struggle with newer titles so time to splash the cash methinks. Would prefer an NVidia card and ASUS mobo, but I've not kept up to date with the hardware developments of late so I'll bow to the knowledge of my betters

1. What is your budget? €1500-€1600(ish)

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming. Any games that will be thrown at us in near future.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

5. Do you need a monitor? No

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? To a degree, yes.

8. How can you pay? Credit Card/Laser

9. When are you purchasing? Next couple of weeks hopefully.

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? In Kildare, can get someone to set it up no problem, but if site assembles I'll go for that.

One question though, is the dual video cards any bonus, since most folks I've asked on the subject say it's not any plus having two since there's few games that require it.

It's definitely worth it, if you don't want to you can get a GTX 680 or 7970 GHZ edition, but then you're only getting 55% of the strength of two GTX 670s.

What resolution is your monitor currently? Those 670s would be good enough for anything really, but if you're playing at a really low res they would be completely overkill :P

My current monitors highest res is 1680x1050, but I'm probably gonna chuck this one for a bigger, better one once I fork out big bucks for a new machine.

750 is more than enough for two cards and a good overclock

Thanks for the help there lads. Will think about it some more, methinks I might just go with a GeForce 680 instead of the dual and put the saved cash towards a Catleap monitor instead.

Get a 7970 instead if you're getting a Catleap. The GTX 680 is best for 1920x1200 and below. The 7970 performs better at very high resolutions due to it's extra 1GB VRAM.
