Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Group Stage Seeding from Wiki so not 100% sure if correct

    Pot 1
    Chelsea (ENG)
    Barcelona (ESP)
    Man United (ENG)
    Bayern Muchen (GER)
    Real Madrid (ESP)
    Arsenal (ENG)
    FC Porto (POR)
    AC Milan (ITA)

    Pot 2
    Valencia (ESP)
    Benfica (POR)
    Shakhtat Donetsk (UKR)
    Zenit St Petersburg (RUS)
    Shalke 04 (GER)
    Man City (ENG)
    SC Braga (POR)
    FC Dynamo Kyiv (UKR)

    Pot 3
    Olympiacos (GRE)
    Ajax Amesterdam (NED)
    RSC Anderlecht (BEL)
    Juventus (ITA)
    FC Spartak Moskva (RUS)
    Paris Saint-Germain (FRA)
    LOSC Lille Métropole (FRA)
    Galatasaray (TUR)

    Pot 4
    Celtic FC (SCO)
    Borussia Dortrmund (GER)
    FC BATE Borisov (BLR)
    GNK Dinamo Zagreb (CRO)
    CFR 1907 Cluj (ROU)
    Málaga CF (ESP)
    Montpellier (FRA)
    Nordsjaellan (DEN)

    What I want :

    Pot 1
    Chelsea (ENG)

    Pot 2
    SC Braga (POR)

    Pot 3
    RSC Anderlecht (BEL)

    Pot 4
    Nordsjaellan (DEN)

What I want to avoid :

    Pot 1
    Chelsea (ENG)

    Pot 2
    Shakhtat Donetsk (UKR)

    Pot 3
    Juventus (ITA)

    Pot 4
    Borussia Dortrmund (GER)

That pot 3 is looking fairly handy, some good teams I'd like to avoid.

    First post in soccer!!

How does it work the the English Champs are seeded lower than the runner up when they went out of Europe at the same stage last year? I can understand the Italians with Juventus not being in Europe for years.

Some slippery customers in pot 3 though.

Its decided by UEFA club coefficent which is a rolling 5 year calculation of teams performance in the CL and the Europa league.

Points are based on performances in Europe from the last 5 years. Man City obviously only have points from last year, so are at a disadvantage for the time being at least.

Seeding goes on a 5 year record and Man City dont have 5 years in a row of being in Europe, only reason they are so high is because of the base seeding for England.

Here is every team with there ranking points

    Manchester City Eng 63.882

4:45 our time tomorrow is it?

Listed as 4:30pm start time for the coverage of the draw but by the time they stop talking bollocks and get started it'll probably be around 9:30pm.

I'd say United are pretty much guaranteed to get Dortmund for the Kagawa factor, after that it's like picking teams out of a hat :D

City and PSG in the same group would be a bit mental; just to count up the cumulative salaries.

Pot 3 & Pot 4 have some very strong sides.

As a United fan, I'd hope to avoid PSG & Juventus in Pot 3. Dortmund & to a lesser extent, Malaga in pot 4.

Not being able to play the standout strongest second pot side is nice. Valencia and Benfica are probably the strongest of the rest.

Hopefully no trips away to Ukraine & Russia, given that United are away after 5 of the 6 CL group games.

Hopefully Sunderland get an easy draw :pac:

i dont see the need to pick the group number separately? surely just picking in order as drawn out would save alot of hassle...

I think it's just to further distance itself from any possible fixing.

    TV scheduling reason.

It is to do with tv and policing and such.

Like in England Chelsea and Arsenal cant be in the same group section as each other so one is paired with Man City and the other with Man Utd.

They have to be in the opposite side of the draw to Real Madrid. UEFA 'pair' teams for TV purposes to make sure they play on different nights.

Same reason Chelsea and Arsenal were kept on seperate sides.
