Month long N3 Belturbet-Butlersbridge closure

    Just a heads up that theres a major diversion starting next week on the N3 between Butlersbridge and Belturbet
    Notice is hereby given that Cavan County Council has made an order to close to public traffic the roads described hereunder from 08:00 hours on Monday, 9 July to 17:00 hours on Friday, 3 August 2012 inclusive for construction works for the N3 Butlersbridge to Belturbet Road Improvement Scheme.

    Road closed:
    N3 Butlersbridge to Belturbet Road from its junction with the N54 Clones Road at Butlersbridge to the junction with the R197 at Sugarloaf, Belturbet.

    Alternative Route:
    Access from Cavan will be via the N54 Butlersbridge to Clones Road to Gannon’s Cross and the R197 Drumalee Road to the N3 at Sugarloaf, Belturbet and vice versa.

    Access for Local Residents will be provided where practicable.
    All enquiries regarding Road Closure should be directed to Cavan Area Office on 049 437 8700.

    Not that route again!

    It was in use for a while in the Spring too and perhaps at other times too.

    It saw prolonged usage when there was flooding in recent years on the N3 a few miles outside Belturbet.

    I presume this closure is linked to the Belturbet bypass under construction. So the closure might be inconventient temporarily will be of beneficial long-term value.

    Yep, road closure is to do with the belturbet bypass, will be super job when done.
