A chance encounter in one of Corks premier independent record stores in 1998 between Cork based D&B dj, Source and Kerry born D&B dj, Jet Li was the beginning of what was to become what is now. Although coming from completely different musical backgrounds, Jet Li grew up on a diet of hip hop and reggae owing it all to his initial purchase of Musical Youths, Pass The Dutchie and Source was introduced to 808 State and hardcore techno in the early 90s, the duo found themselves sharing a like for similar styles of D&B. It wasnt long before Jet Li joined forces with Source behind the decks at his residency at Fluid, a weekly D&B in Cork City.

Almost two years later the duo realized that their preferred style was not the sound of the other Fluid residents and in a bold move Source and Jet Li established Phase 2. The object of Phase 2 was simple, promote good music, in good venues, with good guests and the sound had to be perfect! Phase 2 guests included Marcus Intalex, A-Sides, Total Science, Rohan and Beckett as well as a whole host of up coming and established Irish D&B DJs and producers. Source & Jet Li djed all over Ireland with the MC Wuzza from Cork to Belfast, Galway to Dublin and all points in between, guesting with Bassbin, Nu Killa Kru, Jungle Fever and Release. Source & Jet Li even brought the sounds of D&B to the unsuspecting youth of Lisdoonvarna!

A three year residency at HotHouse in The Half Moon in Cork including MC Wuzza on the Mic followed. On the airwaves Source hosted a show on Cork based pirate Radio Friendly while Jet Li broadcast the word of D&B on Radio Kerry. Phase 2s finest moment to date came in the form of a joint venture with Dublin based Bassbin. The event was called JUNGLE REPUBLIC. To say it was a success is an understatement! Jungle Republic was held at The Royal Bar & Hotel on Valentia Island in Co. Kerry (home of Jet Li!). The event was held over two nights and featured 14 djs and 2 mcs who traveled from as far as Belfast (14 hours in a bus respect!) to take part in what was the first of three Irish D&B gatherings. In 2002 Jet Li began producing and although early endeavors are no longer discussed the last 12 months has seen Jet Li develop a unique sound that echo characteristics of his early influences and is ready to ride the wave into the history book of D&B.

Mecca (Shatter, Subtle Audio, Absys) – Mecca is an Irish based DJ and Producer who has been making quiet waves across the DnB world thanks to his innovative productions that build on the original 90’s Blueprint of breakdriven atmospheric bass music with a modern technical edge. First coming to prominence with the vinyl release of “Virtual Affair” on Subtle Audio he has been busy in the studio cooking up new collaborations with Ricky Force that are already getting support from a range of DJ’s around the world.

Nippoman has been wrecking venues and gaffs around the fair city of Dublin and beyond for many a year with his high-octane blend of classic Bristol rollers, rowdy Techstep and Jungle selections. A man known for knowing what makes a dancefloor tick, Nippoman is also the man responsible for producing and directing "Underestimated", a tragi-comic look at the trials and tribulations of the plight of an independent music promoter in Dublin.

See yis in there, we're getting SHATTERED!
