Hi KoolKid that all right if you are living in the city but when you live in the country side it's a different story.

It'll be a hell of a long time before you get fibre in the country! Few pilot schemes etc at the moment but very little.

    Thanks Bruffkid,

eircom currently offer fibre broadband up to 150Mb in two areas, Wexford and South Dublin. This has been an expanded pilot scheme and plans are in place to draw in more areas in the coming months.

eircom recently announced Phase 2 of the fibre roll-out, and this includes a widespread locations through out the country. E.G : Galway, Limerick, Castlebar.... and more.

We don't have specific dates or time-frame, at this time. However we post here on Boards as we get more information.

Meantime, if you need more information on eircom Fibre Broadband or need to check if your phone number is in an area covered by fibre, take a look at our website :

If you phone number qualifies for fibre you will be contacted by our Fibre Broadband Team.

View details of our great fibre bundles - http://www.eircom.net/broadband/fibre/

If you are able to find your address in the fibre area but don't have a phone number to complete your purchase online, call 1800 503 703.

If you're not in an fibre enabled area you may still be able to get eircom Broadband.

    Best wishes,
    Ant

it is supposed to be , however most of Drogheda will be FTTC so speeds around 20mb max ( higher if real close to cabinet ) depending on distance from local cabinet on street.
also the Dec 31st date, is the network build date, not the availability of new faster service.

    isn't that right eircom?

    Thanks for post Lantus,

All planned works are subject to change or local factors. As far as we're aware though, Drogheda is still included in phase 2 - Fibre Broadband Phase 2

    Best regards,

    Hi gpf101,

The first phase of the fibre broadband rollout involved a pilot scheme and was launched in two regions : Wexford and South Dublin.

Phase 2 will cover a wider geographical area as outlined - Fibre Broadband Phase II

I don't have any further information on specific areas at the moment. As soon as we get more information we'll try to advise further here on Boards.

If you need to check ongoing availability for fibre braodband in your area, log on to the website and enter your telephone number details. If you're eligible for the next phase you will be contacted by the fibre team about your expression of interest.

I would just like to say that it's a bit ridiculous that eircom are setting up fibre in Limerick City, Dun Laoghaire, Bray and Dundrum, when all of those areas are already served by UPC. You'd do better to set up in large towns with no current competition to maximise profit and coverage.

now there is a surprise... more south side dublin getting the upgrade... no mention of the north side though

    Hi Wireless net,

    Thanks for your post.

As for individual areas, I don't have specific information yet on whether they will be FTTC or FTTH. As soon as we have more information on Phase ll we will post this here if possible. Again, I don't have the date of when the planned fibre rollout is due to complete. As said, all planned works, including our fibre broadband roll out, are subject to change and local situations.

Meanwhile, if you keep an eye on our website below, you will see more information as it becomes available. This will include areas that are covered by Fibre to the Cabinet or Fibre to the Home :

The rollout out in Limerick city has already begun saw Eircom install does Green boxes in a dooradoyle estate a month ago. Did they review how many people already had UPC before they did this- people are not going to change to Eircom with all the bad publicity they get from their Eircom customers.
