Hiya, I was just wondering about the free fees thing. I am eligible for sure, but where do you apply? And do you receive money, or do you just not get billed for your tuition?

Also, am I right in thinking you still have to pay 2000 euro aside from the free fees?

    Tanks!

If you are eligible for free fees they are paid automatically to the third level institution.

If you are eligible for the grant that will cover the student contribution charge otherwise you have to pay it.

As F.R. says, the student contribution (which is €2500 this year I think) is only to be paid if you are not eligible for a grant. The college may also have another charge of around €100 to be paid on top of this for student services etc. - this is paid by the student irrespective of whether they get a grant or not.

You can apply for a grant online here. There's info on how to apply on studentfinance.ie.
