Modes, please leave this here, rather than moving it to the Computers section, as it's specific to this section.

    Hello all,

A workmate is planning on building a PC to draw pictures with a CintiqH, along with zBrush and 3Dmax, etc. Now, as it's not for gaming, I have little or no idea what type of card to be looking for. Should a typical medium to high end gaming card be enough, or should he be going for a certain card that can help him create models better?

He'll be getting in about two months, if that makes a difference. He'll be getting 16GB's of RAM (seems ZBrush uses lots of it), and the rest of the system is undecided atm.

well it's actually the processor the things like maya, max and mudbox/zbrush use when your working , So he should really just try get the latest processor, and a good cooling system working in 3d etc can really make your computer over heat, im currently able to fry egg's on my laptop. As far as i know the graphics card only really comes into to play when your rendering out work but not to sure if this true or not its just stuff ive heard.

Just ordered a new pc myself, For gaming & Work, Getting a SSD drive on it would a good choice if he could afford, You get some fairly large file's when doing 3d/2D work.

Here's what i got, il probably upgrade to an SSD drive at some stage.
