Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tired performance.Need to be getting 3 points in these games.

  • Registered Users Posts: 339 ✭✭martyeds

Goal keeping error didn't help either.

A huge 6 pointer vs Reading. Is it going to be a score draw???

Worrying to see Ramirez gone back to Uraguay just when
the team seems settled.Guly is no replacement.

It better be an actual 'family situation' and not doing a Delgado or Tevez. Not impressed if he misses the next few games.

    Edit: Panic over.

Now gaston....a goal or two & 3 points very badly needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,670 ✭✭✭Rascasse

Really dominated that so would have liked to seen another goal or two, but I'm not going to complain with 3 points and a clean sheet.

Ref had a shocker though. Barely got anything right for either side.

3 months!?! Where did that come from? I thought they were saying 2 or 3 weeks. Nightmare if true.

Its funny, you spend around 2 years wishing he'd sod off and now I'm hoping he gets a new contract. Hopefully this is just his agent stirring to get a deal.

Interesting results over Christmas period. Would have taken a point from both the Stoke and Arsenal games before kick off. 3-1 up against Stoke yet only get a draw from it. Didnt see Arsenal game but yet from what i heard we could have taken all 3.

Disaster against Sunderland but 3 draws after show
great improvement in team.6 pointers away to Villa
    & Wigan coming up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Fonte out for 6 weeks is a disaster.Need to attack Villa tomorrow
    and get a BIG result.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

    Great win vs Villa
    Super draw vs Chelsea
    Mad loss of Nigel Adkins

Great first half from the Saints. If they react this way to a new manager, then they should sack him every week!

    should be 4 up

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Could have been 3-3.Boruc looks safe in goal.
Very important point even after the dominance
in the first half.Forren for Jos!

The poor press. My heart bleeds for them. St Mary's is private property and the owners can set whatever restrictions they wants. Nothing to stop them interviewing fans outside the stadium. The press are only interested now we are premier league and gave us very little coverage when we were down in League 1.
Sure it's not like the press ever harass anyone. No sympathy here.

I agree. There is very little space around the stadium that Saints own and its very busy on match days (as you can imagine). Nothing stopping the reporters asking the fans 100 ft away on one of the access roads. Actually reading the article it says that they were just barred from doing it in the car park and by the players entrance. The club says they are welcome to do it in front of the stadium (Belvidere/Britannia Rd junction).

Big Saints news today is whether Coutinho will sign. He wants Liverpool but they aren't offering enough.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Not sure how pushed Liverpool are about Coutinho to be honest. Its not a critical area for upgrade right now.

That would be nice, Lambert up front with Ramirez, Lallana and Coutinho feeding him, very tasty.

Haven't been on here in a bit but boy have we been in the news. We went from the team everyone wanted to stay up to the team everyone wants to end in the Blue Square. I'm still angry about the way Adkins was treated but we still have to back the Saints no matter what. In October if someone told me that we would be sitting in 15th 4 points above drop zone I would have jumped at it.
Whether if we agree with the sacking or not we have to give the current regime our full backing. Its a major risk and the timing is mind blowing but lets hope it pays off.
Nice easy trip to Old Trafford up next.

Lallana back & new CB is good news.
Will Adkins be given the Villa job.Sad.
Away to Wigan is another huge game.

Didn't see the first half but watched the second. Saints played very well and pushed ManUre back for the bulk of the half. Gave them very little time to settle on the ball and kept them under pressure in their own half for long periods. Boruc also made 2 excellent saves from RVP and Rooney. If we play like that for the rest of the season we will stay up (IF). Massive must win game coming up against Wigan.

    Last minute goal grrrrrrrrrr

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Duzzie

What a result, one we've been threatening for a while now. I was disappointed with dropping 2 points at Wigan but this more than makes up for it. Keep on playing like that and we should be well clear of the relegation zone at the end of the season, but i have been following Southampton for long enough to know better than think such thoughts. And a reported club record for a midfielder turned down in January.

Saints way too good to go down but injuries etc could be a problem.

Reading game on TV..hope its not Monday
I hate Mondays...unless the relegation is over at that stage.:p

    QPR & bagpuss awful result
Have to win home games vs WBA,W Ham & Stoke:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Duzzie

Massive result today, 3 unexpected points. If i'd been offered a draw for this game, I would have taken it as Liverpool have one on the best current forms. Opens a nice gap to the relegation zone of 7 points and a much better goal difference. It's not just that we won, rather that we won well against a good side. I wonder if Courtinho is regretting his decision, probably not but who knows.

Wigan keeping it wide open.Their game in hand

Well after all the consternation about Adkins sacking, looks like Southampton board were completely right to upgrade. Harsh but that is life.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Hard to know to be honest, if you look at Soton pre and post the sacking its not that much different.

One more win would surely do it (Sunderland away and Stoke at home to finish). Defeat for Wigan tonight would help in a big way. They can have the cup final on Saturday all they want instead!

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

    Well..onwards & upwards.Need a striker for next season.
Whats the story with Cortese? Is he leaving or bluffing.

    Soton looking good

    2-0 agin Swansea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭Green Giant

This time last season Saints had conceded something like 20 goals in the league. Now they've conceded two.

Bearing that they have the same defence again this year except Dejan Lovren, has he perhaps been the signing of the summer? Or has there been a mass collective improvement in that department?

    In Pochettino I Trust
