Sad about JRod.Season over but just finish above Newcastle.

Any word yet on how serious it is?

His injury will be englands excuse for not winning the WC this time round :pac:

Terrible news.Out for 6 months.Looks like it will be Christmas before
    he wil feature again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Terrible news for english footy with Jay Rod. Think he would have only got stronger for the end of the season, rest of the team seem gutted for him as well.

I suppose the only positive for Saints is that it may reduce interest in him over the summer? Selfish way of looking at it I know.

    Osvaldo acting the maggot again...

    http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/topics/southampton-man-fails-on-every-occasion-and-is-causing-trouble-ag

If only he there was some clause in his contract. Act up and you will have no choice but to spend the rest of your footballing career 30 miles to the east.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Probably need him now with JRod out.Looked poor in front of goal
    on Saturday.Bad result.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Yeah didn't sound great from all reports. Cardiff were poor and we lost....

He needs some serious attitude adjustment if his going to stick with us for the next while..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,215 ✭✭✭BigMoose

It was pretty awful. We had all the possession in the first half but didn't look like scoring even if cardiff had everyone sent off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

I hope this isn't going to be a trend for the last few remaining games, we still have a top 4 team to play........

    Oh and utd ;-)

Adam Lallana nominated for player of the year:pac:
Shaw for young player.Well done guys.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Great display today even though Saints didnt score:p
    Cork & Victor were excellent.Thats 8th secured:pac:

I too thought they played well on Sat. Never looked like conceding except perhaps a couple of dodgy potential penalty give a ways. Now just 2 more wins to get us our highest points total! :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Ugh, usual garbage from the rags today then. Mo Po in set for talks with Spurs and Liverpool bid 15mil for Lallana which is laughable on todays market to say the least.

I look forward to big players being linked to Saints rather than saints players constantly linked to be moving elsewhere.

Rant over.... Up the Saints and 2 weekends back in home turf for me :-)

So your no Plastic Poccehino then.Have a ball.:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

3 players with England,Sdiderman on standby for France
Ramirez,Lovren!! Never had Saints had so many for the WC

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Just have to worry about keeping them & poch for next season. Think Poch staying will depend on whos going for what money.

Hearing of another nipper coming through the ranks who is rated as much as shaw was at the start of last season, but still if we go selling every young talent we produce we're going to get nowhere fast.

Keep em all I say, we need another striker for next season, as much as I love RL he's not a 15-20 goal a season striker. Will take some time for Jayrod to recuperate fully and find his boots as well.

I'm now presuming that we are stuck with Osvaldo seeing as he hasn't made the Italy squad?

How has Wanyama played this season?

He looked like a player with bags of potential at Celtic, just wondering if he has continued to improve at the Saints?

Would like to think he'd have a better season next year if he hangs around. Don't think he's lived up to the hype tbh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Thought he was awesome in the past few games. The reason Saints
were conceding so few goals early season was because he was playing.
Fell away when he got injured.
Rickie I think is almost past it and I doubt if he would get to WC if JRod
    had not been injured.
Being bombarded with worrying news about transfers but then again
    was it ever any different.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Would've been interesting to see how JayRod finished out the season, felt he was really starting to come alive.

Think this will be Rickies last hurrah tbh. Would love to see him stay on at the club, he played such an major part in getting us back to the top.

    1. Chelsea ( 18 )
    2. Manchester United, Bayern Munich (16)
    3. Napoli (14)
    4. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City (13)
    5. Juventus, Arsenal, Liverpool (12)
    6. Atletico Madrid (11)
    7. Porto, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Zenit (10)
    8. Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain ( 8 )
    9. Southampton, Schalke, Roma (7)

Players from clubs going to WC. Impressive.
No Ossie there? Will he be loaned to Pompey!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

    Ha good enough for Ossie.

All the transfer bull5hit is ruining the WC and its not even started.

The Evidence is There ! Lallana's Off To Liverpool !
    Tuesday, 20th May 2014 10:19

It doesn't take much to sent the tabloid press into a frenzy, here we reveal several alleged facts that even one of which would lead to a back page exclusive a back page exclusive for the likes of the Daily Mail's Neil Ashton.

The tabloid press doesn't need much prompting to write a story about how one of our players or even three or four are at the very moment you are reading the story, locked in talks with one club or another, even when that club may not even have a manager.

Here after painstaking research we have uncovered several "facts" that confirm that Adam Lallana is off to Liverpool, one of these facts on its own would be worthy of a back page exclusive in the Daily Mail, two or three of them together would mean a two page inside cover story, but put together and they are dynamite, if they were to fall into the hands of the chief rumour spreaders in the tabloid press it would undoubtably be a colour supplement in the Mail On Sunday or such like.

The eveidence that Adam is off to Liverpool is out there, when you find it you can's argue with it.

    1. A mole in the Saints dressing room has revealed that after the Olympic Opening Ceremony in 2012 Adam couldn't stop singing Hey Jude in the shower for days afterwards, when you realise that the singer was Paul McCartney then the evidence is clear.

    2. A passer by saw Adam looking in an estate agents window in Bournemouth last week, when asked where he was moving to, Adam probably replied he was "off to live near Poole" however there was a lot of traffic noise and he might have said something that sounded similar.

    3. Adam is friends with Lee Barnard who according to a popular song is short and f***** hard, uncannily Liverpool's Steve Gerrard also shares the same stature and his name rhymes as well, although to our knowledge Lee hasn't yet been put on his rear end by Demba Ba just yet.

    4. Several years ago Adam borrowed a copy of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band from Bradley Wright Phillips, he has yet to return it and is now believed to be infactuated with the Beatles

    5. On another musical note, Adam's surname Lallana was the original name of Liverpool beat combo The La's who shortened it so it would save costs on printing cd covers, their hit single was called There She Goes and featured in the football film Fever Pitch which itself was based on a game played at Anfield between Liverpool and Arsenal exactly two weeks and two days after Adam's 1st Birthday Party.

    6. Adam wears number 20 for Saints, the number 20 bus in Liverpool runs from the City Centre to Kirby, stopping at the end of Everton Valley less than a mile from Anfield, this would be the bus Adam would get to the ground from Lime Street Station if he goes by train for transfer talks.

    7. It is rumoured that Saints change to an all red kit was not after all the work of dastardly Nicola Cortese (who incidentally would have gotten away with it as well if it hadn't been for you meddling Kat's) but at the insistence of Adam who wanted to get used to playing in all red for a couple of seasons before playing for a team who are actually famous for wearing that kit.

    8. Adam Lallana despite being a footballing god from a young age still had to go to school, at the schools he attended there was probably a good chance there was a girl called Ann, and a much more of an outside chance her surname was Field, if there was though, Adam would have seen this as an omen, given that there probably wasn't a Mary at the school and she definitely would not have been a Saint, we might be stuffed on this fact alone.

    9. There is a direct coach service from West Quay Coach Station to Liverpool it leaves daily at 13.20 and takes a little over 8 hours, it does start in Poole though so Adam could get it from there or probably Bournemouth, in case he is reading this the cheapest fare is £33.10.

    10. Adam is one of the country's most renowned experts on Piers, he lives in an apartment in Bournemouth overlooking the pier and last year went on Mastermind with his specialist subject being British Piers 1876 to the present day scoring a respectable 12 to lead after the first round although a disastrous general knowledge section put paid to his hopes of further advanacement in the competition. In Liverpool he could buy an apartment overlooking Pier Head, although in fairness this is not much of a pier with the only penny slot amusements available being slotting pennies into the hands of the local drunks.

So there you have it, these ten facts can only lead to one conclusion and that is that Adam Lallana is off to Liverpool and that he is taking Dejan Lovren and at least one other team mate with him.

    TL/DR
Where the papers get there rumours. :-)

TBH I reckon Luke Shaw will be an outstanding player and getting
27m for him is still good business and would offset some of the waste
    on Gaston & ossie.
Adam lallana if he goes will not be as big a star as he is at Saints.I just
think that at a top 4 club in Europe he will suffer by losing the' cosiness'
    he enjoys at St Marys.
As for Poch? has he any more successful than Mark Hughes or Tony Pulis?
with the squad he has? Where was his plan B all season.Would he be a huge
loss if replaced by a 'star' manager during the close season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,215 ✭✭✭BigMoose

My problem with losing Poch is what alternatives are there? What "star" would we get?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

I'd sooner go the unknown route as we did in taking on poch. the managers that are looking for work are generally the same ones in the same boat this time every season. Loosing poch fills me with more fear than loosing the players tbh.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Rumours are that he is going to sign extension to contract:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

    Please let it be true!

    http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11233606.Shaw_only_focused_on_England/

Sounds very focused for a young lad have to say, and with Evra staying at Utd for another season it may keep him with Saints for a while longer yet.

Who do ye think would make a good replacement for Poch?

    Poyet maybe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Reports he has been offered a 3 year deal by both.Looks like
the yobbos from North London are favourites:confused:
    So what about laudrup?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Huge loss if he goes. Think Laudrup is a good shout tho. Can't see the appeal tbh, they were 2 places above us. Don't rate their overall squad. Youth system isn't as good as ours. Can only see it being down to bigger kitty.

Maybe the board at sms isn't living up to the hype of pushing for Europe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,215 ✭✭✭BigMoose

Yeah, I cant see the appeal in going to Spurs either. Must be his pay or transfer kitty or both. If Saints are serious about Europe, we'll push for europa ourselves, so going to spurs for that doesn't make sense. So either our board will go for the cheap option or spurs are offering him silly money. I am worried now who will go with him. Lallana I would think is likely to go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Not sour grapes but he wont last at Spurs. The talk from Espanol
when he joined was that he flattered to deceive.
    Who is next then
    Lennon
    Laudraup

    a plumper?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

I think Lennon did a job at celtic, but IMO its nowhere near the same as PL football.

Looking at the names mentioned I think Laudrup would be a good shout, now if only him and brian were 20 years younger and interested in the saints haha.

Please let all this be bs and Poch is sat in Ocean village polishing up his Sunseeker.

Oh dear. The Star apparently reporting Steve McLaren as potential for SFC. What's he done for Derby? Not really paid attention to that league this season. As England manager I remember him being fairly ****e.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

You remember correctly! At least its in the Star. ;-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,215 ✭✭✭BigMoose

I cant even remember what England team he managed. Being English, I seem to have blotted it from my memory. I assume it was so awful he didn't manage to qualify for whatever tournament it was? As you say though, it's only the Star!

Paul Clement will be the next Southampton manager.

Took them to the play off final playing good football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

Maybe so, but I'd sooner he stayed away from Saints

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭zztop

Yakin from Basle the bookies favourite.
    Koeman 2nd:eek:

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

CL experience, proven winner albeit in a lesser league.

Clicked on to SSN earlier they all seemed happy that finally he'd left saints. Maybe i'm being paranoid but genuinely feel the powers that be won't be happy until we go back down again.

    Struggling not to rant

What about Neil Lennon? Has CL experience, won't have to pay any compensation out.

No thanks mate, said earlier that he's done well at Celtic but don't think its the same calibre as the PL, just my opinion no offense meant to anyone :-)

None taken, sorry I should have read back before asking that. Just looking back at zztop saying Murat Yakin is the bookies favourite? Looked him up and aside from two titles and a cup in Switzerland and a good run in the Europa League there isn't a lot else to say about his managerial career.

No. 2 Ronald Koeman has done better and has more experience overall but hasn't done as well as he'd have liked outside of the Netherlands I think.

    Rickie lambert joining liverpoll:eek:

    great move for him.....back home

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,215 ✭✭✭BigMoose

Wow, it just gets crapper and crapper!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭blaze1

He'll stay an SFC legend no matter, 8-10 mill for a 32 year old striker is good business. Although maybe there getting him to keep AL company.

Looking forward for a manager to be appointed so we can't hear about any of the transfer business that is done behind closed doors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,215 ✭✭✭BigMoose

You cant begrudge a 32 year old his final chance at a fair sized transfer, even if he wont start (m)any games. I'm more concerned about the number looking to leave and the trend and lack of decent manager at the helm to hold it all together and attract players to take the club forward. Seems a massive step backwards to me and we'll be lucky not to be fighting relegation again next year.
