Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would getting an iphone 3GS be a bad idea?

I can technically wait about a month or two to get the iphone 4 (not S) but I'd rather not wait.

Only reason I'm even considering an iPhone is that the Apple store apparently has more games and apps and the likes than the Goolge store for an Android phone.

I'm just mostly interested in games (not 3d ones though) and internet.

So is it worth trying to scrape another 200 or so for the iPhone 4?

Iphone 5 is expected out in Oct/november.

Unless you're getting it for free, i'd hold off.

Right, cheers. What's the difference between the iPhone and the iPhone 4S? Would it be worth getting the 4S for an extra 100 euro?

I presume you mean the iphone 4 and 4s, the main difference is a slight performance boost, and siri. I think it'd be worth the €100 more, it would get you more if you were to sell it in a few years time.

Yeah meant the normal 4/4s. But if the iphone 5 is going to come out this year is there a point in not waiting (or is going to be that much more than about 600 euro on PAYG)?

And in either case, about how long with the iPhone 4 last (as in, will it be completely out done by phones in about two years)?

Have a look at the past trends to get a good idea when the 4 will phase out. It'll be about 2 years before it could be obsolete/ unsupported by new iOS releases.

also, for price, have a look at the 4s prices, it'll stick to those prices

I'll keep the phone in mind. But something just occoured to me: wouldn't the iPad (3rd gen/new one) actually have all the games that the iPhone does but just be much less portable?

Yes you're right, the ipad can play anything the iphone can , it'll either use pixel duplication, to scale up the game so you can play it on the ipad.

Or the ipad will have its own version of the game taking advantage of the bigger screen.

Are you only getting an iphone just for the games ?? A 3GS will struggle to play the newer games as it has an old CPU and little RAM left over. I've heard the 3GS is slow with ios 5.

The newest iphones (4/4s) should play all the games you want, but if you can try waiting until the next iphone is released , that will make the prices of the older models go down

Ya, the 3GS is painfully slow on iOS5 and it's going to be rubbish for newer games. If you can wait, i'd suggest getting the 5. But if you just want to play games, the iPad 3rd gen would suffice

I think you may be misinformed about the lack of games in Google market?

You should really consider one of the latest android tablets. So much more for your €. Tons of games for next to nothing on Market.

If you have to combine the tablet and phone. Get a S2 Galaxy. Power house of a phone with a amazing screen for browsing and gaming.

From past experiences, android tablets, despite them having amazing specs, are absolutely terrible. I think the only way to go is an iPad.

About 3 or 4 of my friends who have all bought android phones and tablets, all of them have regretted and have gone straight back to their old devices, being it iOS or WP7.

It's kind of hard not to get a biased opinion on the Apple Media Device forums. :D

Well see here's the thing: I rarely use the phone other than for texting and calling. The internet on it is really slow (or more than likely my old phone is at fault) so I got told the iPhone would be better than an android since it'll have more choice.

I'm not against tablets, exactly. I'm just fed up with slow wi-fi on my phone and figured upgrading it would do the trick.

But yeah, if tablets are better and theren't any downsides (I doubt I'd be bringing it outside at all so battery isn't an issue) I might keep the phone.

Is the S2 Galaxy this one: http://www.o2online.ie/o2/shop/phones/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-i9100/140/

If so, my phone now is the i5700 one so I assume it's good enough upgrade to last two years?

And I assume if I do get an iPad everyone is going to say get the newer one over the second gen?

One question: I'm dreading have to type on a pad, Apple is selling thier keyboards for about 80 euro. Any chance you can get a much cheaper one? Or does only Apple sell them

Yes that is the correct Galaxy.

Slow WIFI on your phone could be down to 3 things. Your proximity to your router. The router or the speed of your broadband. It may not be your phone.

Ask your questions in non Apple forum. for less Bias reply s :)
