Running Routes in Letterkenny

Hey all,

Just moved up to Letterkenny in the last few days, and I was wondering if anyone would be able to recommend a good route for running - about 10-15k in/around the town, ideally on footpaths, or on roads with good hardshoulders?

Also, I was wondering if it would be worth going up to Glenveagh for long runs - would it be worth it? What are the tracks like? Do people go there to run, or is it mainly walkers? There isn't a whole lot of info on their site.

Any help/advice/routes would be much appreciated!!

Technique

There are loads of routes with wide footpaths and street-lighting around the town, but they're around 5-10k on their own. To get the further distances you mention you'll probably have to park at somewhere like the Clanree Hotel or Ballymacool Park and run towards the town and then complete some combination of circuits before heading back. Most longer routes will involve the circuit which takes you past the Mount Errigal Hotel/Church of the Irish Martyrs/Swilly Inn/Oatfield mixed with some combination of the Port road/Pearse Road/Neil T.Blaney Road circuit.

Mapometer is good for working out some distances before you go for a run.

Ah well, can't get rid of the hills - will just have to do more hilly work!
