Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Who from protestants or catholics?

Mostly Protestants. Both couples live in mixed but predominantly nationalist areas, and there have been issues in the past when they gone to visit 'friends' and relatives across town. They don't advertise their religious affiliations, but names can sometimes give things away, if you know what I mean, and the odd neighbour has been known to comment behind their backs too. Primarily, though, it has been abuse coming at them from the Protestant in-laws.

How do they react to atheists marrying Catholics/Protestants?

People fighting over their imaginary friends. Ridiculous dump. The Brits can keep it and if they want us to have it then they can just declare independence and feck off and leave us alone in the 26.
How many of these morons still go to church or mass or service?
Why do they care about religion if they don't actually practise religion?
I'm embarrassed that the place is on the same island.

    Protestant atheists or Catholic atheists?
I'm not joking. These things are more tribal/political than religious. The vast majority of Orangemen I ever met would rarely darken the door of a church, yet it's supposedly a religious organisation.

Mixed marriages are probably increasing but at a very slow rate. Even if people didn't mind what religion their partner would be the 6 Counties are still very much divided along sectarian lines so people of the two religions don't mix that often. There are more "peace" lines in Belfast now than at any time. A lot of Catholics still don't feel safe socialising in Protestant areas (and vice versa) so how are they ever going to meet someone from that community that they'd get married to?

My uncle (a priest) was taking part in the ceremony. Made it easier for him to have the approval. Made my parents happier too.

Children are brought up in the CoI.
