    The G2 is probably the better camera and also has video but there will be way more accessories and second hand gear available for the D3000.

    To be honest there would be very little difference in picture quality from either of them.

    Thanks for the comparission - they seem very similar.

    I am not that pushed on extra lenses as i doubt I would be at a level to be changing lenses etc.

    But at a user level is there anything else that seperates them.

    I seem to se sidinb with the Panasonic although I hear Nikon is a better brand of camera

    Nikon is a better camera IMO but it doesnt have video. It will really depend on what you are looking for though. However, for 100 euro more you have the D3100 which is much better than both.

    If you could strech your budget a bit I think it will be worth it.

    The Panasonic is onsale reduced €190 which is the reason I picked it.

    I suppose its the value for money I am looking at.

    Has decided to buy the panasonic and argos dropped the price on another panasonic these 2 are both €309 - is one particularly better than the other.
