Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Specialist or Jack of all trades?

    Which are you?
Are you a specialist who is particularly skilled in one very specific thing
    Or
Are you capable in multiple disciplines, and able to turn your hand to a variety of things?
I think the more versatile you are in the current climate, the more options/choices you have - but the specialist will usually command the higher fee.

I, personally, am more of the latter. I am kept busy, can turn my hand to most things within my field - quite well too in most cases.

cast your net wide when it comes to jobs, you could be four years in college and get your degree,in the meantime the jobs are gone, and four years can change a lot in the jobs market..
i got out with my diploma and got work experience first, you can always do top up on your degree(which i did through distance learning),and i did a top up on my degree with an fetac level 5 cert.
whatever you do dont stick yourself in college when the jobs could be passing you by..

Jack of all trades, master of none.

At least I'm honest about it.

My entire business is being a jack of all trades. I am a one call stop for large companies, anything from a blocked toilet to the roof blew off to we need a new Forklift. To meet that, I hire people who are not jack of all trades but are experts at what they do. I am an umberella jack of all trades but it is the expert people who ensure I come out looking good, so horses for courses.

Don't despair, the sex industry is crying out for skills like that. I hear the pay is pretty good as well.

I'm just a completely useless bollox. I'm a waste of natural resources (oxygen and the like). It's a wonder I haven't been shot for the good of humanity.

Don't worry, when you die, your body will make good food for all the worms and bacteria which in turn will enrich and fertilize the soil and then maybe million years from now you will turn into oil which some future generation rednecks can use to do burnouts in their hillbilly V8 trucks...

If your serious in life you'll focus your ability on where you're talent lies. Don't settle for a job you hate.
