Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Moving to the UK for the purpose of study - payment of CB?

    Hello,

    If an Irish resident moves to the UK for the purpose of study, according to EU regulations (certainly in the case of those pertaining to the registration of vehicles) he remains "ordinarily resident" in Ireland for the duration of his course and does not become a UK resident.

    With that in mind, if the person has children (who will be joining him in the UK for the duration of the parent's study), should child benefit continue to be paid by Ireland, or by the UK? According to citizensinformation.ie, CB is paying by the country in which the children are "ordinarily resident".

    Trust me the UK gives out benefits to anyone, so do not worry about it.

    I don't plan on claiming UK CB. My concern is that the folks in Letterkenny would stop payment of Irish CB once they knew I'd moved to the UK - despite EU regulations stating that I'd still be "ordinarily resident" in Ireland as the move to the UK would solely be for the purpose of study.
