It's quite often on sale on Amazon.com, and can be activated on Steam. I got it for a fiver back in March!

thats a pretty poor last day for a sale, pity because its been pretty good and i was in the mood to buy one last game, ah well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,799 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Now the question is, buy the stuff I wanted that didn't go on daily deal now, or wait until 4-5pm tomorrow in the hope it's one of the last flash sales or community choices?

Poor enough last day, nothing at all that interests me there. Was hoping the GTA pack would come back up

I just picked it up earlier for €14.99.

The price fluctuating all day, if it goes back to €9.99 I'd be sick.

Arma Arrowhead went for a nice €8 which I was happy since I have Arma 2

    Heres my haul;
    ARMA CO
    Shogun 2
    Medieval 2
    The Witcher 1 & 2 (from GoG)
    KOTOR

Was my first proper Steam Sale with a Windows machine. Limited by my crappy graphics card but some have been bought for the new machine I'm getting soon. Disappointed I missed out on Vampires TM though.

Yeah the first one's only OK but the second is an improvement, mostly down to a ridiculously nice art design and some new physic tricks. Certainly worth a few euro, although the basic mechanics wear thin over long periods

Bought all 5 Prince of Persia games for €10.99 last night :o

I actually saved up any money I planned on spending on games
at the time for a whole year and didn't buy any games I wanted,

+ I sold my older console games so I could basically build an
instant collection for my new PC this summer.

(I think going digital is a good idea at this point in the console cycle.)

    Steam Games From Summer Sale:

    Alan Wake franchise
    Assassin's Creed + II + Brotherhood
    Batman franchise
    Bastion
    Bioshock franchise
    Borderlands GOTY
    Crysis franchise
    Darksiders
    Deus Ex: HR + DLC
Dungeon Defenders + Worth while DLC
    Oblivion GOTY
    Skyrim
    Fallout 3 GOTY
    Fallout NV Ultimate Edition
    Far Cry 2
    Grand Theft Auto Complete
    Half Life 2 + Episodes 1, 2
    Just Cause 2
    Limbo
    Magicka
    Metro 2033
    Penny Arcade 1 + 2
    Payday the Heist
    Portal 1 + 2
Saints Row: The Third + Worth while DLC
    Super Meat Boy
Torchlight II + free Torchlight I
    Trine franchise
    The Witcher 1 + 2 Enhanced Edition

Origin Games - (EA activated games bought during Summer)

    Alice Madness Returns
    Bulletstorm
    Dead Space 1 + 2
    Dragon Age Origins: Ultimate Edition
    Dragon Age 2
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning + DLC
    Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2 + Mission & Character DLC's (they are all great)
    Mass Effect 3 + Ashes

Most of the money spent came from selling my older games so it's
kind of like trading in my games for a kick ass new collection.

+ I just finished all my Xpadder profiles for Mass Effect & Bioshock 2
etc. and they work perfect. Just have to decide what to play.
a bit complicated but really worth it.

Yeah you get the Mac version for any Mac supported versions of the collection.

At least you can use the new Custom Grid image system to cover them up and make them easily unnoticed or marked as Mac.

Yeah, I've two entries for GTA:VC in my library. One of them is for Mac. Bit weird since it doesn't do that for any of the Steamplay indie games I have.

Not many for me this time round:

    PixelJunk Eden
    Syberia
    Tank Universal
    Port Royale 2
    Europa Universalis III: Complete
    Saints Row: The Third
    Renegade Ops
    Alan Wake

Only saw Pixeljunk today at under 2 euro. BARGAIN!

Didn't bother buying a lot since the laptop is starting to slow up and can't play many games on it. Must get a proper rig once I'm finished college.

Playing in a lower rez in windowed mode is a system saver. I can play most games pretty damn well once I knock down the rez. Almost doubles my FPS.

I'm in an awful predicament.Only have 12.50 left to spend and want to get the most that I can out of it.Desperately want ARMA 2 but can't afford it.
Anyone have any advice on what would be the best way to spend the rest? My Steam library is virtually empty at the moment.

Somehow I think Steam are planning to have less sales going forward.
I'm not sure they'll have a summer sale in another 5 or 6 years.
This is just my own conjecture though.

Any particular reason for thinking that? On this thread alone there's been thousands of euros spent by people that would not have spent it outside of a sale. Bearing in mind that Steam only do digital distribution the cost of some of the older games to them would be minuscule and as a result the mark up on a game sold for €5 could easily be in the 200-300% range.

They make alot of money from the sales. They aren't going anywhere.

Legend of Grimrock is back on a flash sale... Those of you who bought it already, how are you finding it? It's generally received positive reviews from what I can see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭Dazza

    Borderlands GOTY Edition (Great game)
Hospital Tycoon (Theme hospital was a lot better imo)

And thats all I got! Im not a very big gamer but I hope to have both of those finished by the end of the summer!
And maybe LA Noire If it get voted to be reduced :P

If you want I can send you the 2.50 if it'll get you the game.
If you are inclined to send the 2.50 back later that's fair enough, it's only 2.50
If you are using PayPal anyway. I'm broke when it comes to my O2 card!

**If not then I'd suggest any combination of these for €12.50**

    Bastion €3.49

    The Witcher: Enhanced Edition €1.99

Because the sale is so late, and last year they had like 3 sales one after the other.
The first signs for me was when they introduced the daily deals and weekend deals all year long.

Not saying there'll be no sale.
Saying there'll be say 1 a year around January/December, and daily/weekend deals in the future.
Flooding the place with giant sales isn't as smart as valve can be.

City is definitely the better of the two and you won't miss much by skipping Asylum but they are both great games so my advice would be to start with Asylum.

    EDIT: How was the film?

  • Registered Users Posts: 37 JoeGuy00

So.. just back from the Dark Knight Rises and feel like playing some Batman.
Which one is the best, Arkham city, or Arkham Asylum?

Not the answer you want but I would get both. Asylum is cheaper and more of a brawler slash puzzles, but City has a bit more freeform play and mini-games plus is better in my opinion. If you start with Asylum then you could get City cheaper at Christmas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

Both are excellent but Asylum is the better bet. It's the first game in the series, has a tighter narrative and will introduce you to the combat at a slower pace.

Throwing somebody into Arkham City is very very confusing and overwhelming. The amount of buttons and combinations is very daunting. Start with Asylum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭FlyingIrishMan

Thanks, I think I will start with Asylum so, if I enjoy Asylum when I finish it, I'll buy city regardless of the price. Don't mind paying full price for any game if I know I'll play it and finish it.

@Neilos, movie was good. Really can't say much without spoiling it, but well worth going to see.

I dont know why people wouldn't buy Witcher 2 on gog for the extras alone.

If you buy it on Steam you can redeem it on GOG for free. I just signed up and gave the account to my brother once I made a copy of the extras so he had a backup copy of The Witcher 2 to play.

(He already has it on the 360 btw - it's not some kind of "yay 2 for 1" type thing lol)
