Cleaning a hmr

Well lads what way do ye clean your hmr's, do u need to use solvent for copper fouling or does a pull through do ok, a friend is planning on buying one

i only used a pullthrough after every 2nd box of ammo and a small bit of oil in the barrell if it got wet other than that never cleaned it really as i read alot of reports that they shoot better dirty. i noticed after cleaning the first couple of rounds were wider than the next few

I treat it like a centrefire, it's got a copper jacket bullet running at fairly high velocities.
I use carbon and copper solvents with the odd run of a bore polish.

Everyone has their own idea on the best products/methods but I'd recommend a good one piece rod with a bore guide. I use a Tipton carbon fiber one. The small bore means a small rod, prone to bending.

It shoots better when dirty but obviously not too dirty. I pull the boresnake through once every 50 rounds then give it a proper full strip down clean with patches and solvent after 100 rounds.

same as Kildare said. Mine takes about 10 shots to get it back shooting the same as it was before..
Wont be changing from this method either unless I notice a drop in accuracy. shoots way better dirty.

Cheers lads, i was just curious as i don't know what my friend would be like for regular cleaning but atleast he'd get away with a pull through so and sure if he gets a .17 rod i could clean it properly every now and again for him when i'm scrubbing my own rifle, or show him how to do it but i cant imagine him spending too long brushing andpatching it with solvent,

Does much copper build up in them?
