I guess it kinda looks... ok. Hard to believe she was in Jump street.

    Full trailer:

Release date: Valentine's Day, 2015.

Ye Hypocrites, are these your pranks
To murder men and gie God thanks?
Desist for shame, proceed no further
God won't accept your thanks for murder.

Considering it's a US film, I doubt they give a monkeys.

I have my ticket booked for 10.30 on the 13th. Hope this won't turn into some stupid couple film.

Both trailers I've seen look "meh"
Not terrible (as I've heard the books are), but uninteresting.
Jamie Dornan looks suave as sh*t, and I'd been saying to a few mates he'd be a decent bet for Bond, but this role looks far too dour and serious to really suggest he'd pull off that role. That said, if this is to be a commercial success, then fair dues to him for taking a gamble as a lot of actors turned it down for fears of how it would affect their image (again, supposedly).

    Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan?
Would never have associated Patrick Marber with this.

From the trailers it just looks literally like twilight but instead of a clunky metaphor for sex we have actual sex (and no werewolves). I'm still kind of curious to see it though just to see what all the fuss is about.

I have to imagine it'll be better than twilight. Just for the actors if nothing else.

Jamie Dornan isn't that great an actor, I hate to tell you. He'd been getting a lot of praise for The Fall but he wasn't exactly stretched in that. Lots of monotone talking with expressionless face. Not exactly hard to do.

Try telling that to Kirsten Stewart!

What would happen if a 15 year old bought tickets and then the movie turned out to be rated 18?

You can get a refund. The 15 year old will not be admitted.

Is it not already rated 18? The trailer seems to suggest an 18 anyway.

Not sure if you knew but I just learned recently the idea was based of Twilight.

It was wrote on a blog using their names, then expanded, then altered and finally removed when the author realised they had something.

Yeah I was aware it originated as fan fiction alright.

Looks like Fifty Shades Of Grey got an 18 cert in the UK for Strong sex.

Apparently 20% of the running time is sex.

A small cinema in Donegal has banned it from showing. It's a little local one run in a church hall and the church has decided it's not appropriate due to it's portrayal of sexual violence against women. http://t.co/IuuOEm2Yja

Also, this article about the awful press tour they've been doing is hilarious... http://defamer.gawker.com/50-shades-of-sigh-the-disastrous-50-shades-of-grey-p-1683492446

There was a trailer for this on before Birdman the other day, first time I've dealt directly with anything Fifty Shades of Grey related. Seemed unmercifully stale, I was laughing by the end.

What's the deal with the valentine's weekend release by the way? I'd've assumed it'd be more something that people would want to go to with their friends rather than bringing their boyfriend along to watch them ogle yer man from the Fall.

It is definitely an 18. So I'm kinda interested to see it now, since it seems most films end up getting cut to 15 or 12 for the age rating.

I think the 18 cert is irrelevant.
It has a fan base audience already willing to see it.

Actually fans of the book were super pissed at the casting of Dornan. He's said people have come up to him in the street and got mad at him because so and so should have been cast. Ridiculous.

I know millions of people read the book but I know a lot who just read it out of curiosity or for a laugh, it'll be interesting to see how many people actually go to see it.

Malaysia has banned it entirely, apparently. Their film people said it was more like porn than film.

He seems to be exactly the same in this as in 'The Fall'.

Just to defend our wee Cinema... The article is complete bull****. They have already publicly stated that they simply weren't given a copy to show by the distributors.

I don't know what it says for women who are prepared to go watch a woman
having items such as 'a wooden paddle, handcuffs, blindfolds, whips', etc. used
on her to make her suffer.

I just read something which Dakota Johnson said about her role:

'My hands and legs were tied, I was blindfolded and I was being hit with a
bizarre tool........I was like 'Oh my God, this is the worst thing ever!'

Who but a BDSM fetishist would want to see that?!!

Sometimes, I despair of the sisterhood!! :(

Yes, I just saw that and was coming in here to correct myself. Malaysia has definitely banned it though.

    Good point.

Ryan Tubridy has said he expects the much anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey film will act as “porn for the Orla Kielys”.

Tubridy told his 2fm listeners this morning that the movie adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey” won’t be like arthouse porn for film critics.

Instead, he reckons the target audience for the film will be women who buy designer Orla Kiely’s wares. “It’s the kind of ‘oh my God, look at that’ film,” he said. Tubridy compared the film to the 2004 British arthouse flick ‘9 Songs’ which was directed by Michael Winterbottom, and said the two would be nothing like each other.

There is no sentence I could possibly type that could indicate how bad that movie was. People sat beside me were audibly cringing at some of the dialogue. The acting was awful. The soundtrack was better suited to an action film. The sex scenes were tame and boring and ludicrous at the same time. There was zero chemistry between the two leads. If I was asked to say anything good about it, I can only say it was the feeling of relief when the credits ran.

Their relationship has several possible moments for exploring reason or motivation. Instead he likes how she bites her lip and she likes how powerful he is. Bullshít waste of time. I couldn't even recommend illegally downloading it for the comedy value. It was the worst movie I have ever seen.

I'd say its going to be massive at the box office, but it should be no surprise that it's going to be probably rubbish.

There was enough reports out during shooting that the two main leads struggled in each others company and simply didn't like each other. I'm not sure that makes for any onscreen chemistry.

I'm delighted to be honest. My misses has a wildcard for a number of years now. I brought her to see the latest Rambo and she has had a "You have to come to a movie of my choosing no questions". This was well on the cards, and thankfully she only copped now that it's out who the lead character is.

She was still under the impression it was Jax from Sons of Anarchy, and now she doesn't want to see it. Victory for avoiding this garbage, defeat in that now I can add him to the list of Hugh Jackman for men my girlfriend would run away with.

Why are people going to see it if they're expecting it to be awful? I understand there are fans of the book and fans of Dornan etc. but if you genuinely are expecting compete rubbish why pay good money to go see it?

Same was said about Gosling and McAdams in The Notebook and they had amazing chemistry imo, they even dated after filming for a few years :p

The impression I get, and it's purely reading between the lines, is that Dornan regretted agreeing to this seconds after he signed his contract. According to most reviews she's actually not bad in her role, she's trying to make it work, whereas he's not getting good reviews at all. Again, purely speculation, but if you're showing up to work trying your hardest to make something bad work and your main costar is phoning it in it's bound to make things awkward.
