    Is that result with cable or wifi ,

    If its wifi , plug a short ethernet cable into the back of your laptop & upc modem . Then disable wifi and run the test again . So many speed issues are caused by wifi interference or older slower wifi cards

    Do anyone have similar troubles, else advice me what to do now. Iam planning to move out of UPC if they couldnt fix it.


    I just got my UPC and the installer said to get the full speed u would need to plug the cable into the back of the router and connect it to the laptop. Most mobile devices and laptops can only handle up to 20mbk through wifi is what he said. Ifvurbpc or laptop is older the speed would be even further reduced.

    I went for the 50 speed UPC deal and it's great. I can download a film in 3 mins.

    Agreed. My 60 meg is running wireless around 22meg and my wired is running around 60 but I did see 72 meg one night!

    To get best wireless speeds I turn off the cordless phone and baby monitor.

    i just recieved a call from upc, and the customer service has asked me to check the download limit it was 8mbps and when i was asked to check again after a minute it went upto 19.21mbps...

    now they are concern it may be with the modem, so i was asked to check the speed limit at 2am around, if it falls over the night.

    Ha ha! just a joke. after i finished the call it dropped again

    this was taken just 1 min after the call ended.

    I will check for that again, also i don't have any other wireless modalities, except my phone and my TV is ethernet... Only one laptop wifi.

    Why do they make a modem which is not able to support the download limit or interpet the right signal when it is locked at the same frequency.
    it may be a lame man question. but why such difference?

    Could also be the cabling in your house.

    Lots of stuff is broadcast on the frequency that WiFi uses. How far are your neighbours? If they have a lot of wireless items it'll affect your WiFi.

    Have you tried changing the WiFi channel?

    Are you running your tests on the4 laptop that is connected through WIFI?
    You never answered this. For a valid speedtest, you must NOT use WIFI. It must be ethernet.
