Old Sky Box HDD

So I pulled out a 160GB Seagate PATA drive from an old sky box. What steps do I need to take to use it as an external HDD for my laptop?

And when thats done what kind of performance can I expect compared to my newer HDD 5400rpm in my current laptop? (bought this year)

You'll probably have to format the disk. As for speed, it will be slower as it will run over USB, but it's probably 5400RPM too.

It looks 3.5'' to me, I assume Ill just get a 3.5'' caddy then.
