    "Silly Billy" makes me think of William IV

    Correct.
    1. King William's College, Castletown, founded 1833. They wrote to K. W. asking for a few bob. He replied that he had no spare cash but would have no objection to having the new school named after him. Decent old chap!
    2. Ballydesmond, founded as Kingwilliamstown in the 1830s and renamed in 1951.
    3.The epithet Silly Billy is said to have been first applied to Sailor Bill aka K. W..
    4. Clarence House, the present royal residence of Chaws and Camilla was built for the Duke of Clarence who was later crowned King William IV.

    The 7th and last Earl's grandfather was Brigadier General Charles FitzClarence who won a VC at Mafeking during the Boer War.

    He was killed in the vicinity of Ypres on Nov 12th 1914.

    His body was never found and so is commemorated on the Menin Gate.

    He is the highest ranking officer list on the Menin Gate Memorial.

    Question; how did the Menin Gate get its name?
